Lisinopril Tablets (Page 6)
UpdatedI have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg from manufacturer Lupin for years. My most recent renewal was the same color and Lupin on one side and 20 on other but the pill is half the size of the one I have been getting. Still says Lupin but I am concerned. Anyone notice the difference?
Re: Barry (# 3)
Just started taking then smaller 20 mg lisinopril, blood pressure was spiked around 168/90 and took 1+ 1/2 last night about 2 am, so blood pressure still up around 150 in the afternoon, took my ohther meds which help lower Blood pressure but also took another 1/2 lisinopril. It is 10:30 pm now and BP is 166/87. Something about the smaller pill is not cutting it.
Has anyone felt awful when on the low dose of lisinopril 2.5 mg? It feels like I have a bad hangover 24/7 & very emotional. I've been taken it for 8 days now.
Re: bob (# 101)
Ask you doctor to change you to the 5mg pills. I know you'll be taking more pills for your dosage but the 5mg have not had their formulation messed with 10 and 20 mg had their inactive binders removed and it is causing many side affects. Mine was with my digestion big time. Since I was switched to 5mg pills I am fine. It took awhile and I ended up with two ulcers before I was switched
Re: Marlene (# 103)
I have totally given up with all Lisinopril and switched to Losartan 50 mg
I have also been taking this drug (20 mg) daily for over 10 years...This May 2017, I noticed that the pill was much smaller and the color was a darker pink. I contacted CVS to question the change and they informed me that I was right. The manufacturer indeed had changed it and there would not be any way to get pills from the original formula. I purchased a 3 month supply via cash without insurance, but now I am about to run out. I had an instant reaction to this new rendition of lisinopril that left me very queasy. I just did not feel right and my BP did not maintain its normal level. This is why I questioned CVS pharmacy. I have allergies to a few things so I am concerned. When I began to need BP meds years ago, other BP meds were either too strong and/or made me feel out of it and uncomfortable. Any solutions?
Re: Michele (# 105)
I too had problems on the new pill. I contacted CVS and they are ordering in Lisinopril 20 from another company....I will let you know when I pick it up today....I guess that is all we can do either request from another manufacturer or change to another kind...
Re: Marlene (# 103)
Thanks so much...This makes sense to take the 5 mgs dosage. If I lose a few more pounds I may be able to lower the dose overall. Thanks again.
Re: Barry (# 3)
I am also having anxiety and shakiness from smaller pill. Glad I saw this post. I am going to contact dr to see if there is a substitute
I have been taking 30 mg. of Lisinopril for several years and my blood pressure was good. I just renewed my prescription and the pills were very tiny, I noticed the difference but took them anyway. My blood pressure has been too high now with the new size. The pill says 30 on it and is made by Lupin. I still have some of the larger pills that I will begin to take, but this has made me very nervous today as I need to keep my BP down. I will be seeing the Doctor tomorrow and will share this with him. Something is not right as this only happened as soon as I took the smaller pill. Thanks for listening!!
Re: Diane (# 109)
I have had to switch to Losartan 50 mg twice a day but my blood pressure is way too high. Took Lisinopril 20 mg for years with great blood pressure and they had to go mess with the formulation causing so many of us problems.
Re: Lori H (# 12)
I have been experiencing the same thing since this small pill, my blood pressure is off the charts and is probably going to prevent me from getting my surgery!
Re: agentJ (# 46)
Everything Barry is saying is true!!! I have been having blood pressures of 150 and above over 100 and above, as well as unexplained stomach pain, nausea and vomiting since taking the smaller pill! I take 20mg twice a day! I was in critical care for 3 days due to these mysterious symptoms! I accidentally found this thead trying to research the smaller pill!
Re: Df (# 112)
So glad my experience with the smaller Lisinopril pill could help some people having all kinds of problems and side effects
I switched my BP meds to Lisinopil 20mg-12.5mg HCTZ within in a week my BP started to normalize, just got my BP checked and it is 128/78, my stomach issues resolved! Amazing that after a week off of the tiny pills I am almost back to normal!
I had luck, thanks to this thread, in switching from Lupin to the Sandoz brand of Lisinopril. It was magic: my side effects disappeared and my blood pressure dropped to normal levels for the first time in a while.
Now, however, I hear Sandoz is discontinuing their offering of Lisinopril, so I'm once again in search of another brand or medication entirely. :(
Re: Gene (# 115)
I also had problems on the new pill from lupin...I requested my lisinopril 20 from Watson...made in Switzerland...works like a charm no more high blood pressure, no more leg cramps, no more feeling dizzy and no more dry cough...Life is Good
Yes, you are right it is different. What ever ingredient they changed it did not agree with me. I asked CVS if Lupin makes the original 20mg formula and they said ye, but insurance does not pay for it. So I pay for it myself as it is not really that much and i am fine__just as I have been for years. Each time that I pick up a new supply, I check the size and color. But truthfully, it is only the new lisinopril that insurance will pay for. If you are being charged it is the original formula.
Re: Michele (# 117)
No that is not true...the original had fillers in it. The new one is smaller and they (lupin brand) took the fillers out. Whatever they did it made a difference in the formula causing people to have problems maintaining their BP. Lupin is a manufacturer that makes Lisinopril but they are not the only manufacturer... Watson is another manufacturer that makes Lisinopril. There are other manufacturers as well. Ask your pharmacy.
I have recently been put on High Blood pressure medication, which, in my case, was Lupin Lisinopril10 mg. After 30 days on this pill, my blood pressure was not affected, not one tiny bit. Plus, the Lisinopril gave me a dry cough. I felt like I was taking a placebo. Well, I saw my doctor today and he put me on a new medication, Losartan, 50 mg. After taking one pill and checking my BP four hours later, it dropped the systolic 20 and the diastolic 10. What a difference.
My Lisinopril was just increased from 30 mg to 40 mg. Now I'm feeling a weakness and rubbery feeling in my legs. Also just a general shaky feeling. Wondering if this could be caused by this medication?
