Hi sara,

Lisinopril is not FDA approved for use in veterinary medicine, however it is still being used for veterinary purposes. From what I've read, it has become an accepted practice for veterinarians to prescribe this medication to cats and dogs. It is prescribed for the treatment of heart failure, high blood pressure, certain types of heart valve disease and some forms of kidney disease. Lisinopril does require a prescription from your veterinarian, and is sold per tablet.

I would speak with your veterinarian in regards to the dosage, since only he/she will know the correct amount for your dog based on his/her weight and medical history.
