I Need To Find A Doctor In Fort Worth Texas That Prescribes Pain Killers (Page 7)
UpdatedDoes anyone know a doctor that is good about prescribing pain killers like hydrocodens 10/325 in fort worth Texas? I am a diabetic type 1 that has a lot of pain and really in need of a good doctor that can help me out and not think i am faking pain.
TexasMD, for those that have been on strong pain meds for a while, especially at high doses, it will not be pleasant to reduce the dosage or to stop taking it all together for a whlie. But, it is better than not having your pain treated at all. Once someone has been off of the pain meds for a while, they require lower doses and often meds that arent as strong as what they were on before. They also need to adjust their life style and use non medications forms of pain management. I've heard a lot of reasons, ie excuses, as to why someone can't, ie won't, do this but is is getting to where if you want to continue to have your pain managed, you have no choice. It is better to reduce some of your activity than to not be able to do any of the things you want to do. let alone need to do.
I'm in. Taking me down from 45mg MS 3/day & 3/day 10/325 Hydrocodone, to 30mg MS/day. Have several proven on paper reasons. New dr at clinic. Has not even read my file.
I have fibromyalgia and RA also, along with OA, migraines, chronic lower back pain, and spondylosis in my neck. I have never been able to get anything stronger than Tylenol III since they changed the class of hydrocodone which never worked for me to begin with. My rheumatologist has me on tramadol and flexaril for pain but that stuff doesn't work either. I don't want to have to take a handful of these meds to get them to work. I just want 1 drug that will knock my pain out fast. Do I need to see a pain management dr in order to get any stronger meds and does anyone know of one in Fort Worth that prescribes good ones that actually work?, ,
Andorra, you need to see a Pain Management Dr. They can prescribe you extended release pain meds that last 12 hours, if they think they are indicated.
Dr Ince - he's in hurst. He's a pain specialist. My brother sees him after having a rollover ejection last summer, breaking his neck and shattering every other bone! He seems content w the doctor.
I don't see Dr. Christopher Ince, but I know who he is. He's board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. My doctor knows him and says he's a good doctor. He won't just prescribe pills or follow behind another doctor. He'll probably want to try other treatments before he goes the route of opiate therapy. These days doctors are under the microscope and their going to try everything before opiate therapy so there's no question about you being on long term opiate therapy. Gone are the days of doctors prescribing opiates because you say you hurt. Right now is a bad time to be changing pain management doctors because you'll be repeating scans, emgs, other diagnostics, taking non-narcotic medicines and medical procedures. Just like you've never been in pain management. I had this all happen to me 5 years ago when my original doctor retired. Even with medical records in 2 folders about 8 inches thick (both). I had to repeat a lot of stuff all over again to get back to what I was taking and now I'm on even more, but I'm doing better because of the medication increase. Good luck to anyone changing doctors because it's back to square one these days...
Yea but the Doctors are allowing this to go on as well. They know how very effective these meds are to people and how much it gives people a generally better quality of life. They should be coming together and telling the government asses, that think they are doing a good thing, yea bust the ass of the jerks that are ruining this for all of us! But STOP GETTING IN BETWEEN DOCTORS AND PATIENTS! ! These good doctors need to stand with all of the "supposedly free" Americans. Safety and p.c. bullshiite is destroying this country. And they wonder why Trump is winning.
I recently moved to Texas from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I,haven't had my meds in almost 3 months. It's killing me. I have a lot of pain issues as Well as anxiety and no insurance at the moment. I'm not sure what to do or where to go. I'm near Fort Worth. Any help is appreciated. I can barely get around right now.
Do you currently go to Dr. Vera? He's in Grapevine, right?

Sorry to hear that you're in so much pain. It's difficult to live like that, I know. You didn't mention what area you live in. I can tell you that here in Dallas/Fort Worth it's tough finding a doctor who will take your Medicare/Medicaid but what's harder is finding a doctor who will write you the pain meds you need. Most doctors in this area are so scared of the DEA and DPS that they are extremely hesitant to write for narcotic pain meds. Have you seen a orthopedic surgeon about having something done for your back? There are a lot of new procedures that are minimally invasive with short recovery times. It's not like the back surgeries they did even 10 years ago. The only pain management doctor I know personally is the one my dad sees here in Arlington. If you are im this area let me know and I'll give you his name. Good luck and take care!
Sharona, the link below should help you find a pain management dr that accepts Medicare in your area. Very few drs, if any, will refuse a patient because they have Medicare/Medicaid. When you have Medicare and Medicaid, all that Medicaid does is pay your premiums, co/pays and deductibles. The drs are still paid the regular Medicare amount.

Hi. I see this thread is old but I am in need of a compassionate pain management doctor that doesn't hesitate to write the prescriptions you need based on your chronic condition. I need names. Thanks so much
Jlyn it depends on what your chronic pain is caused by. Some pain management doctors only treat spine related chronic pain while some doctors treat chronic pain in general.
The pain management doctor I see only treats conditions related to the spine.
I've been in pain management for 27 years in the DFW area. I live in Southwest Fort Worth. My doctor is based in Irving, but he also has a Fort Worth office.
It seems the better pain management doctors are in Dallas or the mid-cities HEB area, but Fort Worth has a few. Some will promise you alot and then after they've done all the procedures on you that they can kick you out the door to another doctor who just does meds. Some won't even prescribe narcotic analgesics up front until they've exhausted other avenues of treatment.
Don't you have a GP or Internist who can refer you to a pain management doctor that they work with?
Alot of pain management doctors require a referral for them to see you.
Man I have seen several Dr's that are willing to prescribe pain meds. I have legitimate issues and chronic pain with medical records & surgeries to back it all up though. North American Spine is one, Texas pain relief group is one, Spine team Texas is great as well. There's 3. I reccommend North American spine for minimumly invasive laser surgery for your back.
Whatever you do, do not visit Dr Ince in FTW. He will always treat you like an abuser and drug addict. Theyll hand over "Oxaydo's" which is crap and barely relieves pain, theyre coated so you cant "abuse" them or cut them up. He's awful, but honestly most pain mgmt are... be careful out there. Let me know if you find a really good one, would love to hear about it! Good luck!
Hi my name is jean I am in Lawton Oklahoma I been on hydrocodine for 4 years now the doctor who was giving me the meds left went to the Indian hospital now doctors are giving me hell to get my meds. I can't get out of bed without help I have RA neuropathy compel tunnel I am in so much pain I cry. I didn't want to depend on meds. I don't know what to do
Jean , were you seeing a Pain Management Dr ? If not, you need to get an appointment with one. It is up to each individual dr to decide what they prescribe to their paitents. A dr prescribing you a specific medication in the past does not mean that a new de will prescribe you the same med. Do you have a copy of your medical records from your dr that left ?
