How Would Your Heartbeat Be Before You Would Get A Heart Attack? (Top voted first)

i suffer from high blood pressure and the last couple of months my pulse became eradic, missing a beat and adding a extra beat. i als get chest pains wich increase in severity and then go away. i also have a stomach ulcer, could the pain come from the ulcer? my pulse rate is normal when i get these pains.

Hi Robert! I can't give you an exact answer about how your heart beat would be before a heart attack. Some people feel it coming on, and others feel fine until all of a sudden they're having a heart attack. As far as your heart beating fast or hard and feeling like it's "fluttering" or skipping a beat -- I used to have the same problem and it about drove me crazy. Then my doctor put me on a beta-blocker. It was "atenolol" although there are many others. It totally regulated my heart beat within a couple hours. It might be worth talking to your physician about. As to the pain, yes it could be caused by the ulcer or just excess stomach acid in general. It's usually due to GERD, which is when you're suffering from acid reflux, so the acid is being allowed back up into the esophagus and causing it to burn and be irritated.

Are you taking anything for your ulcer?
