How Long Before Testopel Pellets Start Working? (Page 3) (Top voted first)
UpdatedJust had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.
It's in my mind too Mike. What do we do about that? Counseling? I hate Viagra. Tried the injections once and man did that work!!! But I can get it up, just not at the right moment it seems.
I have been on Testopel for over a year and get 14 pellets. I was at 135 testosteone when I started and generally peak at 550 to 650 one month in. I crash after 12 weeks usually around 200 to 220. As an amateur bodybuilder I can easily feel the difference in my workouts when I drop off at the end of the cycle. I also use cialis daily as well. The combination of regular exercise and great fitness level along with the therapy has given me the sex life I had back in my late 20's. Note: Dr inserted the pellets into my lower back last goround and it was worse then the insertions into the glute. I will definately go back to the glue insertions.
36 years old. I just had my first Testopel insertion today (10 pellets) and am really banking on this working. My T level was 204 and I've been really struggling hard with lack of energy. My sex drive is basically non-existent. I have 3 young children and trying to keep up with them seems impossible. I'll let you all know if/when I feel any positive results from this procedure. Thanks to everyone who thoughtfully shared their comments and stories about Testopel.
I had my first implat 2 weeks ago. I have no soreness left and I never had any bruising at all. This past week has been the best week I can remember in years. I have energy left at the end of the day. I have experienced the unexpected erections during the day, my penis is very sensitive and ejaculations are almost euphoric. I used the gell for a year and never experienced this.
A shot every 2 weeks is too long of an interval from what I have been told and from what I have read. 1 ml every week is the 'usual' dosage. Heck, I would do a .5ml every 3.5 days, but trying to keep the holes in myself to a minimum. I would try the pellets if you can, everybody is different.
I'm 51. My T level was 316 when I started the pellet therapy. I had 3 insertions every 3 to 4 months. The last insertion was 4 months ago and the Dr increased the dosage to 20 pellets to try and have me last 6 to 8 months. Good news is I'm having daily erections and libido has increased significantly.
Bad news - the edema is horrific. So much swelling in the ankles feet and lower legs. So painful I can barely walk some days. I have developed acne on my chest and shoulders. I'm having shortness of breath, heart palputations and anxiety attacks. It's pretty scary stuff.
Has anyone else had the side affects? I'm on water pills. My urologist has been no help at all. He told me to go to my primary to deal with the reactions. The bad part is that they cannot be removed once inserted.
My blood test last week showed a T level of 978.
20 pellets was way too much for me to handle.
Erect or tender nipples can be a sign that you may be converting T to E. I take .5mg Arimidex to control the nipple sensitivity and other E effects.
Keith, I am curious as to what your levels are when you get measured again. I am 56 and just had 10 pellets inserted on 10/29. My T level was 197. I go back in 4 weeks for another measurment. I do feel better and have more libidio. I want to get my levels up into the at least the mid range of 500 or so. If the pellets don't do it, what do you think about injections as well? any thoughts?
My testosterone was 20!!!!
I recieved 10 pellets in july and it went up to the high four hundreds. My Doc said he would like mine to be in the 600's so he gave me 12 pellets yesterday- Nov. 8th.
One thing we all have to keep in mind is that we're all different and testopel will affect all of us in different ways. Its nice that we have this forum where we can share our experiences.
Imagine how many generations have gone by before there was testopel and other testosterone treatments.
I wish I were young again, but time moves on.
I'm thankful for whatever effects testopel has on me.
I had to wait a little, the last of Feb. for my 4 th round of Testopel. Back ordered they said. They are not going away, I've heard nothing to that effect. What are you levels on the 10 pellets? My intial T was like 150, I started on 10, then up to 12 now. Last longer, and beter levels. High 700 to 800
well i have to say my case was one of the failures. my testosterone was at around 275 when starting with the pellets and went to about 675 within a month and i left nothing. a month later, it already started dropping and went to 550. Lots of pain and no result. Very disappointed.
I replied Mike, but may have been to long winded, as they sent me a notice they need to review it before posting it, lol!
Agreed Chris, I am a user also, but most forms of testosterone therapy are not available to women....I just happen to be passionate about my treatment as all you are with yours. I may have wrongly assumed the men on this blog might like to be informed of all options.
I didn't read all your posts. You may have got carried away a little. Still though, I'm glad to learn about another form of pellet therapy. i've been on Testopel for a year, great results, but always on the look out for something better/cheaper. My Ins pays ok, get 12 pellets . So don't agree where you said wold only pay for 6.
Thanks for the info
Justin, definitely have it checked to be on the safe side, but typically HRT will not cause cancer, in fact it has been studied and shown to prevent cancer. HRT can occassionally cause the PSA to go up a little. Hopefully an exam and ultrasound will be all you need, but That being said...if you already had prostate cancer, HRT could "feed" it, causing it to grow a little faster. Remember PSA's are only a screening test! I'm curious what your levels were and how much the y went up?
Update! It's been just over a month and the pellets are doing alright. Have a semi most of the day which is a relief. A week ago I completely failed in the bedroom. After that you won't believe what triggered my first and stiffest erection in weeks. Marijuana. Yes, marijuana. My wife and I smoked after my stressful failure in bed. Within minutes of inhaling 3 times my lower body parts came back to life. I'm guessing that any large amount of testosterone is no match for my anxiety. I'm afraid to ask for anxiety pills since they kill any sexual desires. You feel a million bucks without sex and that's not what I want. For now I'll keep puffing away when I need it. SMH
Yes, very important to check to see if T is being converted (a process known as aromatization). Simple blood test will tell. Typically adding a medication known as Arimidex corrects this. (Post from a physician)
Frank, I think that your post is informative, but could be slightly misleading to some. By no means am I attempting to discredit your post, however, just a few notes
1). It can not truly be stated that implantation of each pellet raises T-levels by 50 points. For example, one individual may have an extremely low T-level of perhaps 50. The urologist may insert 12-14 pellets. At one month post procedure (When T-levels tend to be near their peak, for one person, they may elevate to 450, another 700, another 600, but estradiol levels may become significantly elevated (i.e.to say @ 200....... Excessive conversion of Testosterone to Estrogen. This is best treated with simple oral Arimidex)
2).A certain percentage of the population simply can not absorb topical transdermal preparations. Additionally it seems that if one is not favorably absorbed, none of them will be......regardless if applied to the inner thigh or under the arm.
3).As you have stated, to the opinion of some, there is at most minimal discomfort after the procedure. There is no pain with the procedure due to the administration of an anesthetic such as xylocaine. The wound may be closed with simple steri-strips. While the utilization of an antibiotic post procedurally can not really hurt, typically they are not necessary as infection rates should be virtually non-existent.
4).If the procedure is cost prohibitive, simple intramuscular IV's, typically of T-Cyprionate may be self administered. 5).Finally, one of the greatest challenges may be getting a PCP to agree to proceed with T-therapy. Some will not initiate unless levels are under 400, some 300. I would say that as long as there are no contraindications (Prostate cancer being the most obvious), treatment should be seriously considered when levels drop below 400. Most physicians will disagree and typically go with 300......so sometimes you simply must find a different PCP.
Finally, this post was administered by a physician
My total testosterone was low 200's before implantation. I get 10 200mg pellets with an arimidex blocker and my total testosterone gets to 800-900 with that and the estradiol level is kept in check with the blocker (I'm a mild converter). I start to feel better within a week. I feel absolutely fantastic from two weeks forward. Peak level occurs roughly 4-6 weeks with a very gradual drop off from there. I can notice a difference between 600-700 and 800 where I seem to feel my best. My doctor does not use testopel, but BHRT pellets that are a higher milligram and seem to work well for me. I think figuring out how many pellets (milligrams of testosterone) you need to get your levels to the point where you feel good is key. While the shots work I never feel as good with them (sense of well being, mood, etc.). My cognitive function, libido, and ability to build muscle from my modest workouts is very good with the pellets. Also very good erectile function. I keep ice on the insertion site and am careful with it for the first few days post implant and have never had a problem or marked discomfort. Hope this helps.
Manny, it sounds like you have found an BHRT informed practitioner! The size and rigidity is key in pellet therapy, allowing for a more sustained level as well as extended time between needing reinsertion. Has your practitioner recommended micronizes DIM? There are multiple reasons for taking the supplement: 1. Helps estrogen metabolize down the healthy pathway 2. Increases your LH, which results in less testicular shrinkage 3. Binds with your SHBG/hormone binding globulin, which prevents your SHBG binding with your free testosterone 4. It is a natural aromitase inhibitor, if you are borderline with an Estrogen ratio of 4-6%, you may not need the RX....but ask your dr about that. Just be careful not to drive estrogen too low! Enjoy the benefits that come from sustained hormonal balance!!!
