Fentanyl Patch Expiration

I have fentanyl patches that expired in 2011. Can you still use them? Are they dangerous or just loose there potency?

They lose potency, being several years expired, they are not likely to be very effective now and you should just dispose of them. It would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription, if needed.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
