Deltacortril Prolonged Use
UpdatedI have just finished a 2 month course of deltacortril 5 mg for IBS symptoms and have never felt better while taking them. I am off them about 1 week and can already feel the symptoms returning. Is prolonged use of deltacortril recommended and what would the risks and side effects be?

Deltacortril contains the active ingredient Prednisolone, which is a steroid class medication.
So no, prolonged use isn't recommended, because it can cause compromised immunity, as well as fluid retention, both of which may lead to other dangerous health complications.

Your doctor may prescribe it for another period of time, but you should only take it if they instruct you to do so.

My 6 year old son is using deltacortil 5mg 6/day for two weeks, now tapering off. We used it to reduce ALT liver enzymes points. Now the Liver function test reports comes normal. We never want to use it again in life due to its side effects and dependency, can we do that, also how can we keep liver enzymes normal naturally?
