Clindamycin Possibly Not Helping :(

I just got switched from penicillin to clindamycin 300 mg 3 times a day. My face wasn't puffy and huge like it is now at first. I have started taking it on the 14th. Is this normal for the face to swell up like this and my gums before it kicks in & flu like chills and 100 degree fever? I called the ambulance twice and they said I should call my dentist as soon as possible and I am. I kinda want to wait and see if the antibiotics will kick in or just go back to the ER? HELP ME PLEASE.

Hello, Rae! How are you doing? Has there been any change? How long have you been taking the Clindamycin?

The general rule with antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement, after taking it for a full 3 days.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

The chills and fever could be due to either or, the medication or the infection.
