Will Oxycontin Be Changed Back To Original Formula (Page 26)

is Oxycontin going back to their old formula? OC instead of OP.
"shows". Just for the record, I am a bad typist. My bad typing has nothing to do with medication use. I just don't use a keyboard that often and my keys stick.
Your cormment shoes your ignorance, just becasue uses and abbreviaiton of a word does not mean they are an addict or that they have a pain medication abuse problem. How many people abbreviate when texting? Get yourself educated.
they are not addictve. They do have a withdrawal. Having a withdrawal does not mean addictive. people do not go to all legnths to get more, take more, abuse, etc. I am a retired md.
Well Don, color me stupid, but your previous posts made absolutely no sense. Now here is where you get sarcastic, and call me stupid......GIHIJ
Did you know that anti depressants are addictive? That is why Doc's tell you never to stop taking them suddenly..patients must be weaned. Funny isn't it..that there is no discussion concerning addiction or fear of it yet patients do become addicted. Its all about whats acceptable and whats not.
there is no argument. I cleared it up. Someone said if you were dependent you were an addict. They implied they were the same. I said, no, an addict does things very specifically to get more drtugs. They cannot control their use etc . Someone dependent doesn't I hope this doesn't get posted on, if so ADMIN can you open a discussion titled addiction or dependency? Thanks
Wonder if this article can clear up this argument of addiction vs dependency:
"One of the greatest obstacles chronic pain patients face in their quest for adequate pain relief is the widespread misunderstanding of the difference between physical dependence on a drug and addiction."
healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/coping-279488-5.html
oops I forgot. You might abuse your OxyContin, and might not be an addict. You might be dependent, you might be in pain.
You might abuse it and not be an addict, dependent or in pain.
You might abuse it , be an addict, dependent, and in pain,
You might abuse it be an addict dependent, and in not in pain.
I mean every possiblity. Except that being dependent DOES NOT MEAN you are an addict. You might, you might not be.
You might be dependent and not in pain or in pain and be or not be an addit.
But because you are dependent does not automatically make you an addict.
TO CLEAR UP:
Addiction and Dependency are )))NOT((( the same. I am using OxyContin and am dependent on it. I need it for pain, and I need it to avoid withdrawal. I am NOT an addict, someone who acts totally different and thinks differently about thier meds.
An addict might be and probably is in pain, an addict is dependent.
A person dependent might or might not be in pain, probably is, but is probably not addicted.
Addiction: the ongoing use of a substance despite severe consequences (health, job, legal, etc), and unable to control the amount they take. Thinks and obsesses about, is concerned with having enough, and might start to increase without dr approval, doing script forgery, dr shop, etc.
Dependency. Uses the meds properly, will have pain and withdrawal upon sudden discontinue. If pain is undertreated might develop pseudo addiction, behaving similar to an addict primarily increase without dr approval, doing script forgery, dr shop, etc
There is no upper limit. If you get or take more than 80mg per day, you or your dr is not going to prison. Just because you take that much doesn't mean you are or should be in the hospital.
in fact, because i do take that much, I AM NOT IN THE HOSPITAL. How does that grab you RehabRyan.
I dont know if there has ever been a study to see if all the users on this board are addicts or if they spell it or only say OXY --does that make them a likely addict. Maybe, but I doubt it. I think its more of a habit than anything.
If you DONT KNOW, dont post as if you know. It just makes you look silly.
I take more than that. My dr is just fine. Stick to what you know and limit to that.
By the way, I've been on 8x80 per dayPLUS for several years, even before the change so trust me, not only are there people taking that much or more, their drs are not in prison or heading there. What a ridiculous comment. There is no "Illegal" upper dose. No where does it say "it is against the law to prescribe or take more than x per day."
I'm
Not angry at all honey, but it's a FACT that most people who refer to them as oxy ARE abusers. If you're too lazy to spell out the correct spelling it's probably just a side affect to the abuse you're subjecting yourself to.. Obtains some knowledge before you try giving advice
i agree with jane about the new oxy it a big bottle of crap!! it dosent work the same, i have a stomach problem an it dose not deslove like the oc's an therefore it does not work the same even a higher dose still does not work for me!! i went too a pain mangerment doc as well an he made my back worse than what it was before i went to him!!!
The new coated formula of Oxycontin does not work. Especially if you are on acid pump inhibitors, they do not break down in the system for the full effect for pain control. So in the an effort to help pain sufferes they dave to double up on their break through pain medications for relief. As long as pain sufferers are not asking for higher quantities or trying to refill before next due date, why should they suffer and be forced to take a medication that is not fully breaking down in the system for pain relief. Purdue does have an online form for users to fill out to complain about the in effective product since the new change
I don't know what Dr. in there right mind would write out 8 80mg/daily for even someone who is dieing. OP or OC formula. If you are in that much pain you need to be hospitalized. You will be looking for a new Dr. soon cause yours is headed to prison if he is not already there.
Wow, Joey! You must've substituted something way stronger than "OC" for you to be behaving as you are! Just because someone doesn't feel like spelling out O X Y C O N T I N or O X Y C O D O N E or O P A N A - or, _whatever_ every-time they refer to a specific medication does NOT mean they're abusers! How dare you!
If I were you, I'd give serious thought to seeing an anger-management therapist.
As to the topic at hand . . . I don't care WHAT the company's political opinions/concerns are. They are in business to provide we chronic pain suffers with safe, reliable relief - and if that's too much to ask of them, they should release the patent so another company can do the job they SHOULD be doing! And the FDA are just as responsible for the difficulties we are now forced to endure, too - as are the G-D politicians, criminal dope-pushing cartels and more government agencies than I care to name!
This whole mess is a microcosm - illustrating perfectly what's wrong with this country: too many powerful interests making too much money off the backs of those powerless to stop them! And, since the topic of pain medications is taboo - practically verboten - in the MSM, the public at large remains blissfully unaware of its fellow citizen's sorrow and suffering.
And if you think it's bad now, just wait until Obamacare really kicks in! It's so sad . . . and the ONLY politician - with medical experience, who is educated on the issue and is truly compassionate about us . . . he hasn't a hope in hell. :-(
Why are you 'calling someone else out'? This thread is not about abuse. It is about whether there is a possibility of bring the old Oxycontin back. If you want to argue, go to another thread, K?
Yeah, you're right, I'm an addict. It's the same thing as being dependent, basically... Don't tell me about pain, I've had 6 surgeries and almost lost my life TWICE because of them. Maybe you can't read, I don't know... Like I said, I didn't come on here to judge people, but it's kind of hard not to hearing some of these ridulous stories.. I suffer from pain every day. Sorry to break it to you, but you're heads still off in a bubble, regardless if the meds are to treat pain. I know this from experience. Upon becoming clean, I was embarrassed and ashamed at some of my actions, which I would have never even noticed otherwise. I was put on the meds legitly, and never acquirred them illegally, yet I still consider myself to be an addict. Like I said in my FIRST POST, I CAN own up to that. It's not something that I'm scared to say, so realize that when I'm calling someone else one, I've also admitted it to MYSELF before any of you..
You need to read in depth official info. A shell or ghost can be passed with all medication being received in system. And by the way this info was in paperwork of the old oxycontin. I definately agree that the new "OP" is not good but do some in depth research regarding the possibility that you can pass the whole pill yet medication has been asorbed in you body. Once again, this info is regarding the old medication also and not just the new
P.S. I am a hairstylist. I have to be clear headed to do the job I do. I do hair replacement. My meds have been adjusted to cover my pain...mostly. If I could go off these meds today, I would. I sooo miss a glass of wine. Berringer White Zinfindel. Memories now.
Some people are addicts, and some people are dependent. We will both go through withdrawals if we stop. The difference is this, those of us who are dependent will have excruciating pain that is mind boggling. Obviously you are an addict, or you would know this.
