Will My Doctor Prescribe Suboxone

I need help to see if I can figure out how to get my doctor to give me a script. I have migraines.and fibermyalgia my number is. {edited for privacy}

It is unlikely that a doctor will write a script for buprenorphine for those disorder. Though I have seen crazier s***. Bupe is a very powerful drug and should only be used when all other options have failed.

I have to agree with Jeremy. It is a very potent medication and isn't usually prescribed for pain, it's mainly used to treat drug addiction.

Additionally, due to the new crackdowns, a general practitioner can't prescribe such medications for the long-term treatment of chronic pain issues.

You'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to concerns of over prescribing and improper prescribing.

Have you ever looked into pain management?

I use it for chronic pain but only because I've been way up the ladder dosewise with just about any opiate you can think of and detoxed from them all. I found with suboxone I don't get total relief but I never have to increase my dose. I take 10 myself a day and can function normally. Plus I have addiction issues which are handled nicely, including a deminished urge for alcohol. I will be one bupe for life. My doctor is against long term bupe except for extreme circumstances. I am one of three patients she has ever agreed to give lifetime bupe.

Balderdash!!!! I wish you'd check your facts before u post things like that. That is just blatantly not true!! Buprenorphine can be used to treat chronic pain and also depression. No special X number needed.

Hi there. I am sorry you are in pain. I have been on Suboxone for three years due to a dependency to Vicodin. Subs can only be prescribed by a doctor who has gotten certified. (they take an 8hr. course). They must have a DEA #. Doctors can only have up to 30 sub patients, then after so much time up to 100. It is very hard to get this prescribed for pain, but not impossible. Suboxone is best used as a tool for opiate treatment. Best of luck. Julie
