Hey call your Dr see if he will write you early. That's what I did with mine when I went and he was fine with it.
Football 32,
To actually answer your question no they will not fill your script out of state especially with a cs2 like Percocet and even getting another script won't help UNLESS your doc writes for a dosage increase because your current rx in the system isn't to be completed until the 30 th. Sadly your traveling to and from 2 states that have an epidemic of rx abuse. It sucks when families are prevented from celebrating holidays because this insane protocol has been adopted. I hope he can do that for you but you'll have to contact that prescriber in your home state. Hope that helps .... Peace, Kenie...
You should have no problem getting your meds in CA. It is not a state to state issue. As long as you have a valid script in hand and you go in to a Rite-Aid/CVS or similar large chain pharmacy. Make sure you go at a time they can call and verify with your doctor if needed.
According to the cal. State board of pharmacy 174 complaints have been registered in 2016 for failure to fill a an out of state on time prescription for a cds II ( i.e.; Percocet ) in good faith...LEGALLY they have the option but the California board and the consumer rights division of the cal. Bd. Of pharmacy HIGHLY SUGGESTS patients fill there prescriptions In the state they reside and
the prescriber is licensed to practice in.
Idk, it Sounds like a monumental risk when it can be avoided by simply filling before leaving with a dose increase. Anyone who understands the true hell of abstinence syndrome magnified by increased pain of being unmedicated from an opiate used for legit. Pain relief as I DO could ever recommend an action that can do the same for a fellow pain patient.
I disagree with BS's assessment. Of course check with your doctor before leaving and the pharmacy you use locally and the pharmacy at your CA destination.
I am just very leery about telling a fellow pain patient to ask their doctor to up the dosage as this could trigger a flag. Only you know the relationship you have with your Doc, so I would suggest talking with him before you leave. Good luck & happy holidays!
If you are traveling to another state & you can't get your medicine before hand, have your pharmacy express ship your medicine. To ensure you get it, tell the pharmacy when shipping that your signature should be required. This way it protects you & the pharmacy. If you did not get it, they will not have your signature. It safeguards everyone. You will probably have to pay for shipping it but if they send 2 or 3 day mail, it shouldn't cost much. Also, tell the pharmacy to insure the package. I did this when traveling from Ca to NJ. Your pharmacy can also call the script to a pharmacy where you will be. It all depends on the pharmacy, i.e. a chain store like CVS, etc. Good luck & have a safe trip.
Get the person you're going to visit in Calif. to call a pharmacy there and have them to ask the pharmacy. I think that'd be your best and safest thing to do, especially if the pharmacy you use now has a pharmacy where you're going. Have your friend or family member to explain your situation to the pharmacy and see what they say. Good luck and hope you have a safe trip there and back home ~Merry Christmas Football 32!~ Oh and have them get the person's name they talk with, to be on the safe side...better yet, get the number from whoever you're going to visit and call them yourself. You never know unless you try.
