Tramadol - Unable To Acheive Orgasm (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Anyone else experiencing this side effect? Not a normal topic of discussion for me with anyone but my doctor. I found this drug to be very helpful with easing pain, no sedating effect, BUT after taking this medication discovered I was unable to acheive orgasm. It took me a while to figure out it was the Tramadol causing the problem.

i have been taking tramadol for about a yr now and i also get that feeling, like as soon i take it about 30min later i feel the need to really have sex and i can go for hours! but i do have one weird side effect, if i miss a dose or don't take it i experience non stop yawning! has that happened to anyone?

Tramadol is also a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which is a major factor in the sexual side effects it causes.

Joe I know exactly what u mean. I've been taking tramadol for about 5 yrs for arthritis. At 1st I didn't know I was addicted either...until I ran out. By the next morning I was so sick I thought I was dying. Everyone please be very careful with this medication. It may seem like a miracle pill but the withdrawals are horrible! I use to think that only people who abuse pain pills get addicted. But that is so not true. I take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. If I don't take any I'll start have withdrawals within 24 hours.

Yes, it is so strange, orgasm is IMPOSSIBLE for me when on any amount of this.

I also suffer the side effect of urinary retention.

Give up the Tramadol. Even then it could take months to get back.

I wonder what other meds men are taking who are having problems. Maybe it isn't jut the Tramadol, but a combination of meds. I also took Allopurinol for gout and blood pressure meds. A recent report points to Allopurinol causing some ED. I've given up on the Tramadol and the Allopurinol and I'm a lot better off.

Yes it effects all emotions! Withdrawals are aweful seek help to wean off and consider asking dr for gabapentin

Can confirm that Tramadol has immediate negative sexual side effects.

I only took 200mg over 24 hours and during that time I had difficulty in maintaining an erection and achieving orgasm, and when it finally did happen (it took a lot of effort) it was very unsatisfying.

Because of this, I stopped taking Tramadol. Happy to say that the ability to orgasm came back within 24 hours of giving the drug up. I went back to Codeine; I'd rather have the constipation that it causes than the effects of Tramadol!

I had exactly the same issue when taking Citalopram (Celexa) and Prozac a few years back; I think Tramadol is in the same group of drugs as those.

My husband has been taking Tramadol for about 4 months now and he has been having these same ejaculation problems. Last night was the first time that he could not at all. It is causing some real problems in our marriage because I really did not think it was the medication. I feel so much better after reading all of these posts. I hope that we can work through this. I know that he feels this is a good medication for his back pain but hopefully can find something else soon.

I broke up woith my girlfriend because I was so embarrassed that tramedol took away my ability to orgasm. She was hot, and even seeing her naked or having her blow me didn't get me hard, but I did not know it was from the Tramedol. I need it because I have severe pain in all my muscles. I ruined her life but I would rather not tell her I broke it off because I was too embarrassed to just deal with not being able to keep an erection. I wish I had known this before she moved on with another man. Now I am alone, and in severe pain without the Tramedol, so I either keep taking it and be lonely and single, or stop taking it, and be a complete jerk because I am in pain all the time.

Guys, i have suffered from premature ejaculation for 14 years but when i took only 50 mg it relieved my PE. However all those complaining of not being able to perform on tramadol must have taken doses from 100mg and above as this is the effect of high doses.

I love this thread!! I have been on tramadol for a while and for about the past year have not been able to reach orgasm, at all!! At first I thought it was some sort of vitamin deficit or nitrous oxide deficit, but have never had problems with erection. I have always been able to satisfy my wife into multiple orgasms. I feel great with sex but the finale just never comes. I think it frustrates my wife more than me as she feels I'm not getting satisfaction from her. I'm going to try to bear some of the pain and come off tramadol somewhat to see if it's the tramadol. So good to hear I'm not the only one!!

Yes. I am a 50 year old male with chronic pain. The tramadol worked great short term for my pain but it absolutely stopped my ability to have an orgasm. After quitting for 3 days sex drive came back.

So glad I just looked this subject up as I have been on Tramadol for a week now for a disc problem and I have completely lost my sex drive and can't keep and an erection nor can I climax !! Was starting to think it was nerve related due to back but it seems coicedental it ties in with ny medication as suffered with back problem for years and never had any issues down there ! Finish the dose then I will be looking for an alternative I think !

Absolutely! It terrified me. Unable to cum even with oral sex and was unable cum with masturbation which has only happen to once when I was very drunk.

Yep. Libido fine, orgasm much, much slower & harder to achieve. When achieved much less intense. After 24 hours clear of tramadol things are much more normal.

Have you been able to talk to your doctor about this? I'm a 30yo woman. I've been taking tramadol 100mg 3x daily for postherperic neuralgia, from recurring shingles outbreaks. This is helping my pain tremendously but I have been unable to fully reach climax while trying anything and everything with my husband for about three months now. I've never had this issue before. I mean...I've had nights were I was just too tired to worry about myself and tended to my husband's needs but this is crazy! Sex is very enjoyable and I am fully aroused and my body wants to orgasm but...it just won't happen. Please tell me you've found the holy grail and are pain free and able to achieve orgasm!
