This is a generic for Bactrim and, according to the monograph, there isn't a preference.
However, it is well known that this antibiotic can be very rough on your stomach, so if it were me, I'd take it with a meal, or small snack to avoid the nausea and pain it can cause.

I'm allergic to it and can't take it anymore, but the one time I did, it was quite harsh on my stomach and caused a lot of pain and irritation.
And just as a warning, keep an eye out and contact your doctor immediately, if you develop a skin rash from it.
