We have many complaints on here about them not working as well and causing odd side effects. If it were me, I'd print some of the pages and take them in to show my doctor that I am not the only one with a problem with them.
Here are the links to just some of the discussions on our site about it:

As to the problems you have had with the new formulation, I strongly suggest you report it to the FDA and Purdue at the following numbers:
Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:
888.726.7535
FDA MedWatch number:
800-332-1088
The strongest medication for pain that is currently available by prescription is Fentanyl, it is actually over 80 time stronger than Morphine.
It is available as a time released patch that works for 3 days, the name brand is Duragesic, but there is also a generic available.
It is also available as a lollipop called Actiq.
Have you or your doctor ever discussed trying it?
There is more information here:

MS-CONTIN (brand) is manufactured by PURDUE PHARMA. OXYCONTIN (brand) has the same manufacturer. Sounds like the old formulation worked well. I had a spate of "migraine-variant headaches" about 10-12 years ago and ended up taking Oxycontin 80mg QD or BID. prn. It worked, just as Dilaudid worked. (I'm a CNS Reducer, which means if 5mg of brand Valium will work for you, I"ll need 10mg. sometimes 15mg? As for generics? Who knows? I'm lucky I have plenty of buds who will write for Waiver of Generic Substitution and two signatures of specialists [even though only one its required] will turn the trick?) MY FEELING (and that's all that it is) tells me the generic (or new) manufacturing process is F----- up. Complained to the FDA, too. It's looks as if their "Adverse Reaction Form" is for docs only, but I checked. They will accept companies from patients. I'll look for it and out the link.
