Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 8) (Top voted first)

Updated

I only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?

You should take your meds as prescribed and stop buying extras on the street. You don't know what you are really getting. I don't know what you will tell your psych but I would recommend the truth. There is no way he/she will bump you up 6 mgs a day. Maybe he will give you more for long enough for you to taper down to what is prescribed. Good luck.

I use CVS for my long-term medications. Last year I was having theft of my medications *SOME of the TIME*. I complained to the Post Office and it got better for a year. Now it is starting up again (lost medications) CVS now ships medications (at least to me) that have proof of delivery. That means the Delivery person scanned the box before he/she put it in the mailbox. Well, as I observed several times that they may or may not put it in the mailbox, sometimes they leave it on top where it is plainly visible to everyone. We do not have a high volume of people near our mailboxes. It was tracked down to a fast food delivery guy that was taking the medications.

May I ask WHAT pharmacy these days will fill your Rx as soon as your INSURANCE will pay for them??

My INDEPENDENT pharmacist owned pharmacy used to do that & my INSURANCE would pay for my RX's when they're 3/4 done. (on a 30 day RX..I could get them filled on Day 24)

So I would get all of mine filled on Day 24 so that in case something ever happened I would have a backup.

Well last year they sold out to CVS & it's been a "s*** show" ever since!!

They will NEVER fill them 6 days early (day 24) BUT they told me that any prescription that's not CONTROLLED they could fill them 5 days early. But two of mine ARE controlled & they will fill those on day 28 or 29 depending on the pharmacist...kind of crazy but one of the meds is for my migraines & no 2 months are the same so they never last the whole month, so I'm gonna ask my Dr. if he can write the instructions so that I can get them on Day 27 or 28. Thanks to ALL of the people who bought or stole opiate meds -- OVERDOSED & passed away & the CDC & SEA trying to appease the grieving parents & toughening the laws making an ALREADY tough life of CHRONIC PAIN even MORE difficult. All that's going to do is the addicts will continue to abuse whatever they want & we PAIN patients will keep on "jumping thru those hoops" to TRY & have some semblance of a life. Fun. SMH!!

No wonder you NEED more. If there was ever a drug that's a rollercoaster ride, going up and down, etc, etc, it's Xanax. 6MG a day is absurd. Needing more than that is just ridiculous. No wonder you FEEL like you need more. Xanax is as dangerous as heroin with its short lifespan. You basically NEED to take 1mg every 3 hours just to maintain your sanity. That gives you 1 mg every 3 hrs while you're awake..... assuming you sleep 6 hrs a night.... taking 1 as soon as you wake up as well as 1 at bedtime. Now if that's not an addiction, I don't know what is. Get some help because one of these days, with the amount you take, and still seeking more, someone's gonna cut you off and if you think your anxiety's bad now... Time to slowly titrate to Klonopin. You won't 'FEEL' anything when you take it like you do with Xanax, due to its long half-life, but it'll keep your anxiety under control. And it'll allow you to lead a sane life. Good luck to you.

It'll be hard getting it filled anywhere as everyone knows everything these days when it comes to prescription matters (everything's electronic, even for mom and pop pharmacies), especially when it's for a controlled substance. They HAVE to cover their backs due to all the abuse of meds in the country and don't want to accept any responsibility. If you're on a medicare part D program, your Dr's able to get a 'prior authorization' or 'quantity limit override' if you need it.

It's in the computer system everywhere, don't give your meds away or you won't have any for yourself

Go and see a doctor who is caring and stop cry like a baby here asking anyone to fix your angina , this is dangerous behaviour, and also involve many in a form of some debate and confusion, if you have multiple issues you go and see a consultant who is heart Spesialist and ask him to check you out , for angina some give CARDIZEM a calcium Chanel blocker , to relax the vains of spasm , and as for Xanax cut slow down. Or use fluoxetine known as Prozac , is serotonin uplifting, some of those work as uppers some as downers , AXIT works as downner prozac as an upper everyone is different, my advise found a good doctor and ask him to help you , avoid self treatment

Thank you so very much for the information, I was curious because I've been on Alprazolam 2mg for over 18 yrs now and never had to fill early and I'm due to refill Oct 11th and we wanted to leave on a trip on the 9th, so you don't think I'll have a problem going in Monday the 9th that morning to refill my script. Well my fingers are crossed and I really hope Rite Aid will allow me to fill 2 days early... Thank you again Nicole. It's very much appreciated ;)

I would think that IF you call them & explain that you're going on vacation they can fill it tomorrow Oct. 9th.

I hear you. What I did to get around these types of issues.
1. Install a video recording system.
2. In my case, I had CVS send it to me with signature required.
3. It didn't fix everything but most of them.

From the video system, we found that someone was using Jimmy Johns for sandwich delivery and the delivery person was stealing. We had the evidence and gave it to the police. The police arrested the person. Since it was under $100 he was given community service. We made sure he was fired from Jimmy Johns. We couldn't pin all of the thefts on the guy, but it certainly drastically reduced the theft after he was no longer delivering.

Tell them to make sure they buy HI-DEF cameras. Otherwise, the faces tend to be fuzzy and not usable in court.

Re: SayWhat (# 585) Expand Referenced Message

In a big city, they either won't hold your packages or the mail person changes from day to day and messages don't necessarily get exchanged.
Also, we do not have an on-site property manager and no doorman.
I found that reporting it (at least in my area) to the postmaster does little good other than getting the postman mad at you.

Yes you CAN. There is no law on the books at the DEA that says xanax (or any schedule IV) cannot be filled early. It's completely up to 1.) the insurance (if you're using insurance) and 2.) the pharmacist/pharmacy.

I get my Xanax filled two days early every month. I just yesterday got a month's supply filled 4 days early.

Ugh. I know. It is up to the pharmacists discretion. Unfortunately they are the final decision maker. Even if your doc wrote you the script. :( depends on the pharmacy. Always stick to one pharmacy if you can. Develope a relationship with them. Pharmacy shopping is not good. Fyi. And perhaps your doctor will make a courtesy call to speak to the pharmacists. See the problem is becoming that it's the doctors who are over prescribing. Not all but some. So now the pharmacy has to use their best judgement. This is all within the past year. Good luck.

I would never give anybody one pill out of my 120 Xanax bars. You are risking somebody blacking out, driving killing somebody. Don’t do stupid stuff
