Procedure For Stopping Eliquis And Going Back To Aspirin (Page 6) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am on eliquist and diltiazam and still am in atrial fibrillation most of the time. The dr wants me to have an oblation but I am afraid of what could go wrong. I am 78 and have no history of stroke or heart attack. Have any of you had oblation around my age? Thank you for response.
Hello. After reading a lot about Eliquis I decided to stop taking it and switch to aspirin 81mg. I was diagnosed with a DVT (Lower leg)after a sprain in my ankle. Know I need to continue with a good diet and exercise and find out for How long should I take aspirin 81 mg for?
Any suggestion or advise? Thanks
I got my information on the Eliqis website and by asking my cardiologist and surgeon questions galore. I chose Warfarin because Eliqis caused me immediate migraines that started with each dose and lasted 8 hours.
Linda - Sounds encouraging. Are you continuing with Warfarin, or are you off of all pharmaceutical blood thinners with the approval of both your cardiologist and surgeon?
I also am on warfarin. I had a headache all day the day I tried Eliquis so decided it just wasn't compatible with me. So far not having any issues with warfarin, and I stay about 1.5 to 1.9
Therapeutic level is between 2-3 so you may need to talk to your doctor about increasing the dose.
Hi, I have been on Eliquis since March for AF this year, I have had numbness in my feet and a terrible sore neck, doctor said to go off it to see if side effects go away, no AF for 2 months so went off it cold turkey and today after 3 days I had a AF episode but my neck and the numbness have improved. Not sure what to do now.
She can safely go off Eliqis but needs to bridge on to either Warfarin or one of the injectibles short term. Once on Warfarin for a few weeks she can go off it with few if any adverse effects. This should prevent chance of stroke. The Warfarin has to be monitored to make sure your dose is therapeutic at a level of 2-3.
Hi! What kind of problems were you having with the Eliquis? We're you getting any kind of rashes or hives? That's what I am experiencing now being on it. My doctor is going to do the ultrasound again on my leg since it has been 3 months to see if the clots are gone now
I went to the doctor after being on Eliquis for 3 months only to find out that I have chronic DVT. The Eliquis didn't dissolve it at all. It is still the same size in the same spot. The 3 stents that I have in my stomach help to keep it from going to my heart. I have had the absolute worst side effects...rashes and itching....crazy things popping on my arms from hives. I am scheduled to see a Hematologist Monday. Has this happened to anyone??? I have never felt so horrible with this Eliquis but I wonder what the Hematologist is going to do? Anyone else have this experience?

I am in the process of weaning of Eliquis . Taking 1/2 tab 2.5 mg BiD for 6 months and then 2.5mg daily for 3 months . Will add in 81mg of Aspirin with the 2.5mg Eliquis until the 3 months is done . Elizabeth
Re: Bruce S (# 48)
What about all the warnings about weaning off? Your doctor just told you to stop. I am anxious for you reply. Thank you for the help.
Have been on Eliquis for about a month and have had two bad nosebleeds at work in which one of those they I had to go to an emergency room because it wouldn’t stop. Have a cardio version scheduled but I have to get of Eliquis at some point. Can’t live with the scare of terrible nosebleeds on a daily basis

Yes I had an ablation and took Eliquis for 5 months afterwards and then he told me to just stop and I did with no issues actually felt better but I know everyone is different
Hi, I was put on Eliquis after finding a very small clot in a lung. Didn’t have any Afib. Had some insomnia while on it but no mood changes. I was on it for little more than 3 months. I called my vascular doctor about getting off of it after being told In the hospital that I was to take it for 3 months. My primary care doctor wanted me to stay on it for 6 months. The vascular doctor took me off of it & put me on a baby aspirin every day. All this happened about a week ago but I’ve noticed that I really feel fatigued some days - is this normal or common after stopping it?
Re: Sue (# 80)
Hi, I forgot to add 2 other things that happened while I was taking Eliquis. I was literally freezing all the time - even when it was 90 degrees outside I was so cold. The first thing I noticed on the first day without Eliquis was I felt a normal warmth again. Also, I never had a bleed but I bruised easily & the mark that it left took longer to heal & disappear. I’ve had no problem so far in starting on a baby aspirin.

Hi so i had a blood clot in each lung . Recently found out I don't have any blood clots anymore . I don't have insurance at the moment so i cant refill. But since i dont have the blood clots can i stop taking it or just take aspirin?
Re: Iesha (# 84)
The doctor who supplied the blood thinner is the only one who can give you a valid answer to your questions. That is because while the posters here are sincere, we all have different circumstances. Your doctor is the only one who knows your medical requirements. Tell the doctor you are uninsured and would like to know what options are available to you
Re: Peter (# 11)
I just found out two weeks ago that I had a blood clot in my right lung and they put me on Eliquis to I feel like I’ve been handed a death I thought once they gave you but then in shots in your stomach that that was the end of it and that you could just go home and take an aspirin but I guess not I don’t feel right taking these drugs I don’t sleep at night I wake up five times to make sure I’m still alive think I’m a little depressed about this whole thing
