Procedure For Stopping Eliquis And Going Back To Aspirin (Page 10)

Re: Bootsz (# 3)
I thought we were not supposed to split a tablet unless it had a score line on it? The components of a non scored tab are not always spread out like they should be.
I had a pulmonary embolism (blood clots from legs lodging in both my lungs) 12/2020 and had a thrombectomy procedure to remove them. I was put on 2, 5mg Eliquis tablets a day until 12/2021 and now have been told that I can stop taking Eliquis. My question is, do I stop 'cold turkey' or wean myself off and if I wean off, how how should I do this?

Does A fib come and go? I have A fib. My blood pressure is fine.cardiologi dr said to go on eloquis. Did not take eloquis for two years because cost? Never have had any sign of stroke . took 81 Milligrams aspirin for the two years Have been on small does of digoxin for irregular heart beat for 25 years. recently just went off digoxin after asking cardiologist if I could stop. Went off. No problems. I have been on eloquis now for two years. I bruise easily. still don't like the cost , $125/month. Can I stop eloquis
I don’t know how you get off but I do think it increases pain. I have several things that cause chronic pain and when I started Eliquis it seemed the pain got worse but doctor doesn’t think so! That’s no surprise! What gets me..they get you on a medication and then you can’t get off of it without a major ordeal. Also the ones you can’t stop are super expensive! What’s wrong with this picture? Some meds that used to be cheap are unaffordable now! Big Pharma seems out of control!
Re: Marty (# 9)
I would be happy to discuss my experience with Eliquis if it could help prevent the type of side effects I was having. They switched me to Xeralto and it cut the side effects probably by 40%, but still these must be powerful drugs.
Re: Bootsz (# 3)
I was put on Xarelto 25mg when I got my pulse down to 33, I have Afib. That was August 2022, I had several problems with that Med, I had it change to Eliquis supposedly one in the am and one in the pm…I have been taking 5mg Just on the Pm and I intend eventually to stop, I’m a fitness instructor and I don’t have the energy I used to have. I do believe that lots of time docs(pharma)want to keep ppl on meds for ever…sorry not this woman. I don’t have any medical problems whatsoever except that once Afib
Re: Carolyn (# 63)
Hi Carolyn, Did you go off Eliquis and then onto baby aspirin? I was also having numerous side effects after taking Eliquis for almost three years. My doctor would not lower it, so I took half doses for 1.5 weeks and then off of it now for a week. I feel fine. I am not sure if I will take baby aspirin or not. I am 79. I had a blood clot in right leg and lungs in 2020. An ultrasound shows it it gone now.
