Pain In The Neck

I am a 36 yr old woman that has suspected that I have RA for over 15 yrs. I finally went to see a rheumatologist last year in November. She ordered x rays for my hands, feet, and jaw/upper spine. Found out that the top 4-5 vertebrae in my neck are fused together, which now explains the severe lack of mobility and severe pain I've had in my neck for 15+ yrs. I am in recovery (clean and sober for 3 yrs last september) so opioid/narcotic pain management is not an option for me. I've taken Flexeril in the past and found it very helpful at the end of a long, hard day. So I brought this up with my Rheumatologist and she wrote a prescription for 45/10mg flexeril with one refill. I recently ran out of refills so I had my pharmacy contact my Rheumatologists office. After 2 days with no response, I called the dr's office and was treated like s***! Receptionist basically said "we don't deal in muscle relaxers". I am so frustrated and now have to go outside of my provider network for any relief. STUPID!!! Its not like I'm trying to hit them up for a scheduled narcotic!! Its FLEXERIL. It helps to relax my neck muscles after a long day of having to hold my neck a certain way. UGH..beyond frustrated!! I would appreciate any advice!!

Sorry to hear about your neck pain. I totally feel your frustration regarding what happened at the doctor's office. Their level of accountability doesn't add up! Have you thought about trying medical marijuana or CBDs to help alleviate skeletal/muscle tension? Turmeric extract might also be a good option for its anti-inflammatory properties. And yoga (within your realm of capability) may be another consideration as well. These are just a few things I've had success with. I'll be sure to post back if I come across other ideas to share.
