i have been having trouble getting a good dr who will write oxycodone 30 mg. my back has been broken before and i was going all the way to Florida (a 16 hour drive) just to get my meds. So if anybody knows of any it would be helpful. i live in KY so as long as it is closer that's fine. Thank you.
@sbierr...or anyone else
We have exchanged posts a couple of times and I have a couple of more ??'s for you. I know I have told you and everyone. Else what I get for a script. My pain doc has told me in so many words that I cannot get my meds increased cus she feels Im maxed out ( although I get alot I know theres more room). The doc said that if I keep complaining my pain isnt under control she will decrease me because its a known fact that people can become hyper sensistive ( not term she used but I cant remember term) and that by decreasing opiods a person may actually feel better ( I know thats a load of s*** and they just dont want to justify if DEA comes knockin. So my question is what do I do? There r basically no other pm doctors in area and I need more relief??
As a solution to the above prob Im seriously thinking bout double dipping ( no laws in my state) but I know that if I get caught I might not get any relief @ all. My ?? Is that current doc sz DEA is instructing pharmacies to report docs ( if they write over so many tabs of certtain meds a month) or report script holders if they feel there is abuse. Is this my doc just making another excuse to increase my meds or is DEA actually instructing pharmacies to do this?? I know most everyone on this board is from the south but I gotta ask this....Im from duluth, mn and a person told me that some how Duluth, Mn and Superior , Wi share info if your filling meds in bordering city/state?? Have you heard of this happening in other states?? I thought each state just maintained there own data base and did not share?? Even if the states actually dont share is there anyway the feds would find out and intervene ( I pay cash and have no insurance)?? Any thoughts?? Lastly I know everyone would advise against double dipping ( gotta do something cus im dying in pain) if a person were gonnatake there chances and double dip which way would b the best for me to do it, between 2 neighboring states or between 1 state and a VAMC in another state?? Your thoughts please!!
Ill quit hogging the board after this last question. I went to the ER other day and on top of my usual pain meds they prescribed me 4mg tabs of Dialaudid. When taking my normal meds w/ 3, 4mg tabs of Dilaudid I felt great!! So my question is that if you start telling your doc that you want a certain drug you appear to b a drug seeker...how do u tellyour doc u want/need a certain drug?? Lastly what are docs hang up w/dilaudid?? My understanding is Dilaudid is synthisized morphine and im already on morphine so whats the big hoop-lah??
Your thoughts r appreciated....thank you

SBIERR here is my original post with just a few of the things I know I have been diagnosed with as well as some of the things MRI reports stated..
I am looking for info on the Pain center located on Pasadena in Lex, good and bad experience. My neurosurgeon from UK is referring me to their center for PM. I have a 2+ hour evaluation appt apparently before being sent to the medication management side. I have Fibromyalgia, DDD, Level 3 Cervical Fusion in January, in Ohio, WORST experience ever, discharged 19 hours post op and surgery has been deemed a failure. Nerve root damage in lumbar, fractures @ L3 and L2. Repeated MRI's on cervical and lumbar only. Thoracic CT scan states nonspecific ill-defined slerotic lesion involving left aspect of T1 vertabral body, which I have no clue what that means. Spinal canal Stenosis in thoracic and cervical spine in multiple levels. Bone spurs never removed, diffusely bulging disks throughout lumbar. narrowing due to bulging disk and spurring contacting the left L5 nerve root, degenerative endplate changes, neural foraminal narrowing, annual fissures and disc protrusion, fluid at facet joints. Bulging disk @ T10/T11 contacting the ventral spinal cord. Think that about covers it, sorry my AOL messes up as I try to type in anything so I'm sure something has been missed. I honestly do not know what any of the above issues/diagnoses even mean. I am 18 yrs post auto accident and it has just gotten worse. I lose sensation in my left side of my body way too often and I do not know why. I am 35 using a walker when it is bad or a cane when I am not so unstable. I have to wear a back brace due to the fractures. My neurosurgeon at UK is a conservative type and states he will not perform another surgery unless he feels it is going to be a positive outcome and only working option due to the failed fusion. I have had epidurals, blocks, you name it in the past 4 years including biweekly physical therapy. My PCP currently prescribes percocet 10, 6 per day, Neurontin 300mg 3x and Soma 350 4x. I take valium as well due to severe panic disorder and I can honestly state my quality of life is just nonexistant at this point. My current med regimen is not much help at all, still chronic daily pain, still loss of sensation in left side causing multiple falls. I know nothing about these diagnoses as I said and I do not know my options and I do not know what to expect with the PM referral to Pasadena Rd. ANY input would be so helpful and a God send. Sorry I went overboard with all the info, I just wanted to ensure it is out there that I am not a seeking addict and I just want to live for myself and my children like a normal 35 year old Mom!!
Howard!!!!!!!! I can help you with what is going on if you post your MRI results. ( I am not going search for your past postings) As far as a heads up on the clinic I never been there.
Your MRI reports will differ depending on who is reading them, the quality of the MRI, if you had stools in your bowel, etc.
Can anyone with knowledge or experience look at my recent posts to see if they can kind of let me know in average person terms what all the conditions mean in general other than the degenerative disk disease I know what that much means at least. MY PM orientation appointment with the PM office on Pasadena in Lex is Monday, I have not heard much about personal experiences with that location, other than personal privacy is now out the window and I better have my panic meds on hand if I am going to be surrounded, speaking, with a group of strangers. With my panic disorder the waiting room is hell enough and I don't even have to interact with or in front of any of them so I am panicking just at the thought of Monday lol. I am just trying to figure out more than anything what these diagnoses mean in layman's terms so I am a little more knowledgeable. After my MRI this past Friday and a not so ok follow up with the Neurosurgeon I will be requesting a second opinion referral from my PCP this Friday afternoon. He had all my history of MRI's, interpreted on paper as well as the scans on disks and it was just as if "oh, I'm not seeing this or that or yada yada on this new one, but I do see this and this, like the near severed nerve something regarding L5 nerve root I mentioned in a previous post, I guess that magically disappeared but has been visible and interpreted in SEVERAL lumbar MRI's since 2010. Just odd and idk not a comfortable or trusting fit either, other than tell me you should be on something much, much stronger than maximum allowed percocet daily. Anywho responses to my posts would be great. I have to pick up the latest MRI report Friday and my RX history for the PM office that they require. Only problem is I have only been in KY since April so I do not have a years worth of RX history to give them and cannot access old pharmacy in Northern Ohio because I would have to go in to get RX records so hope this will be enough for them.
My husband & I just got stationed here to KY Fort Campbell & I have 3 ruptured disc, 4 bulging disc, kidney disease in both kidneys, severe arthritis in my neck & cyst on my spine & 3 hernias. I need a pain Doctor right away!
Anyone around Paducah have anything they wanna get rid of?

Why should we stay in KY? KY Doctors have been referring their pt's to hospitals & doctors in TN for years for all kinds of medical treatment. But now when it comes to pain control we are expected to stay in KY. In other words are money is good to pour into TN economy for everything else but pain control. I agree a lot of people who post on this site are junkies and DO NOT NEED PAIN CONTROL! That is my point I have been trying to get across when I refer to true pain patients.
I'm in KY ATM looking for some 30's I was gonna txt your phone number but its blocked. How can I get ahold of you?
Hello chris, your post was 492.I saw your message on a message board looking for a pain dr. I was stationed in Afghanistan and our missions were to clear ieds. Well long story short we were clearing the area with our ground penetrating devices and everything seemed clear and as we moved on we must of missed one and one blew under our rig. All of us survived thankfully but not all of escaped with all of our limbs. I lost one of my legs And severely burned. I've been through rehab and getting back to normal life I recently moved back to northern va but the medicine for pAin that I received for pain does nothing so I found a great dr that I've Ben going to over a year. Unfortunately he just notified us that he will be moving to another state and opening a new practice and his practice here will be staying open and a new dr will be taken over but they will not be treating people for pain. So I have 30 days to figure something out and I'm very scared of not finding a place because before I found this place I was in so much pain pretty much doing anything but worst was trying to walk in since I've been seeing this dr I can walk with very little pain as well as being able to do lots of things I wasn't able to do. I usually don't try websites or ever email anyone from these just because of my military status. I noticed you had just moved to va About 6 months ago and was hoping things worked out for you and maybe you could provide a couple options. I'm sorry for the pain you have it makes life very difficult to even try to get to that line that's right below normal let alone breaking even at that line when before we had pain that line was just a bad day and to live that permanently is very difficult as you know. Again I'm sorry for whatever you have been through and I do a have a couple others that if you needed as a back up I could give you but unfortunately they don't take my insurance. Thanks for listening and any place you could recommend I would be greatfull. The closer to nova would be great but even md,DC or further parts of va would be fine its just harder getting around with some of my challenges. Again thank you very much and sorry for such a long email . Robert T PFC
STAY OUT OF TENNESSEE!!! If you live in KY, go to a PM Dr. in KY. If you have a legitimate medical condition, you should have no trouble finding appropriate care in the state you live in. If you can not, you need treatment for addiction/substance abuse. That too can be found in the state you live in.
I can a referal on thursday I see my primary physician. She would def give me the referal just. Need to know where to send it by a fax # or take it to the pm my email is {edited for privacy} you would be putting me out if my agony thank you so much for listening to my story
@Jennifer, you will have to have a referral from your primary doctor or ortho to get into a PM that will help you, unfortunately that's part of the new laws from what I understand
Hey my name is Jennifer im in chronic pain all the time its slowly but surely getting worse and worse. Im only 26 and I live lexington. I agree completely about chronic pain pts I need roumd the clock care because the pain is severe . I was in a car wreck about a year and a half ago im 2 inches shorter my sacrilyiac jointy pelvis is slanted . I was just curious if you could help me w ur drs # I would never give it to neone I just can't live in hell nemore and every dr ive seen says 26 is too young for medicine Kentucky health care sux . My email is {edited for privacy} I really appreciate u reading this I judt wsnna feel at least cdr crr yr
a true chronic pain pt. will need pain relief for the rest of their life. That is suppose to be 1 of the criteria for putting a pt. on chronic pain meds. The ideal of chronic pain control is not letting the pain get out of control by taking long acting (Extended release) pain meds. oxycontin , MS contin, Kadien, etc. along with short acting pain meds (IR) immediate release pain meds. Oxycodone, morphine IR, lortabs, etc. for the break through pain.
It is a nightmare for chronic pain pts that they need to keep in mind that their pain meds will not be available at some poin
@sbsierr. I feel u. We all do need around the clock relief. After I had my rotator cuff surgery, the surgeon gave me oxycontin; that was the first time it was ever given to me. That was the best long lasting pain relief I've had in the 12 years I've been in pain. I wouldn't dare ask for that going in to this new pain dr for the first time. When I took it I was like WOW...and found myself looking for that usual pain after 6 hrs; but the pain didn't come until ater almost 13 hours. Great!!
As a fellow-ette chronic pain person (lol) I have learned a lot on here and drugs.com. I don't understand people who take this stuff and don't need it. I cry sometimes because I don't want to be on oxycodone but if I want my pain to go away I have to take it around the clock.
Its like "IM DAWMED IF I DONT AND DAWNED IF I DO"!! BOTH WAYS has its affects on u. People who don't have chronic pain will never know or understand us unless this happens to them.
I don't wish this on our worst enemy (DEA) NAW..LOL.
But yeah, most people I've heard that really don't need this medication end up at the methadone clinic. I want it out my system but I will suffer big time if I choose to stop taking it. I worry about that because I have 9 different ailments that cause me unbelievable pain.
@ DAVELVL, You do not have a half of brain you have NONE. I do not go to a meth clinic. I have a PM. You and the other junkies are the ones making it impossible for true chronic pain pt.1
1) A true chronic pain pt can not make it on the short acting 30mg oxycodone. We need around the clock pain control.
2) Not all pt.s benefit from surgery it makes them worse. (research for yourself)
You need to know what is going on with a person before you call them junkie's and other names. IT makes you look stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAVELVL!!!!!!!!! First of all I have NEVER TALKED ABOUT GETTING HIGH!!!!!!!!! or get high period. I am not a junkie & I do not go to a methadone clinic. I have a chronic pain management doctor. Almost every pt that goes to this pain Doctor is put on methadone, it is his drug of choice. He has even taken patient of lortab BID and started them on meth. There are no other PM's to choose from if I do not want to drive 2-3 hours one way.
If you could read and understand what you are reading you would know this. I have 20 years of chronic pain records that shows my deteriation. I bet you don't!!!
I will end up in a wheel chair in the near future, if that makes me a junkie so be it.
@willow. Those patches will make u sick. When the pain dr gave them to me I was b ery sick; vomitting, dizzy, couldn't see, just down right delirious. Lol ( if I spelled it right).
They will give u anything but those oxycodone 30s. I don't understand it. Just from reading many post, it seems like the oxycodone 30s work very well for the majority of us chronic pain patients. They just don't listen to us.
I have been going to the PM Clinic on Pasadena. They want to take me off Methadone and inject my spine. Then they said my heart rate was too slow so they want to NOW put me on a Duragesic patch. I have heard that those patches will make you very sick and make you vomit. Methadone has worked just fine for the past 2 years and now this. I don't want to try the patch. I have tried all kinds of different meds and the ones that work best are the Oxy 30s and Methadone 10s. 30s are expensive and hard to get, but dones are affordable and work just fine for me. Anybody got a suggestion for Lexington? I don't want to have to travel out of state if I don't have to....
