Has anyone had hair loss after taking Mobic?
Yes! I'm freaking out! I accidentally took a double dose over a month ago, and I just realized it. My ponytail is half the size it used to be. And its receeding on corner of my forhead. I'm scared to death! Its broken and thin. I hope, I mean pray I don't lose anymore. It gave me ibs also. I'm so depressed and bloated. Has yours stopped? I didn't take anymore after that lethal dose
I've been using meloxican or Mobic for my arthritis over the past year. But now my hair has fallen out to the point of not being able to even put it in a bun. The is none on the right side of my head and getting even thinner on the left. I'm stopping this medicine today and will go to an alternative medicine. The doctors should tell you this and let you decide before putting it into your body.
Yes, I’m losing handfuls daily and it started after I started taking meloxicam 2 months ago. I have half my volume now and am stopping the drug now.
Re: Mandy (# 49)
My hair kept falling out until I stopped taking Mobic and then it took a couple of months for it to grow back in -- however, it still has a way to go! Good luck!
My doctor told me to take Mobic for pain in my right knee. The MRI just shows only the beginning of osteoarthritis. I was told to take it for a month. Will the pain return after I stop taking the medication?
How many days can you safely take Mobic (15mg)?
Can you take more than 15mg a day of Mobic?
And is there a cortisone in that medicine?
Yes! Very very stressful experience! Caused so much stress and anxiety! I coudn't believe it was the mobic!!! And that is exactly what it was! Found out on this website.
Re: Mandy (# 49)
Hi did you get better? I have same thing happening. Very stressful got off about 3 weeks ago
I stopped taking it 9 months ago. I am still losing hair. I have lost at least 70%. I don't know when it will stop. I was diagnosed with Tellogen Effluviam and it can go through many cycles before the hair growth cycle corrects itself.
I was on meloxicam for 30 days 15mg. I have been off of it for a month and a half, however the last 3 weeks I have lost half of my hair. It's very britual. Most of my hair loss is on top crown area and sides above ear area. I'm almost 100 percent certain it is from this medication. I have started taking pre natal vitamins and hair skin and nail for about 2weeks now. Can anyone please inform me when it will stop falling out and when it will grow back? Please please and thank you.
Hope you are feeling better!
I'm taking Mobic and am extremely fatigued. Is this a common side effect?
It's now been about 3 weeks since I stopped taking Meloxicam.
My hair has FINALLY stopped falling out. I feel like I'm still shedding slightly more than usual, but the game are rapidly returning to normal.
Quitting Meloxicam also meant the symptoms I was being treated for have returned (like pain and sensitive skin). While I'm not thrilled, I feel like a medication strong enough to make my hair fall out isn't something I want to rely on long term. Time to find another solution.
Good luck, everyone.
See my reply below -- next person. BTW -- I was prescribed mobic after arthroscopic knee surgery. It did not help at all.
A rheumatoid doctopr gave me a perscription of predisone and that really helped -- my guess is I have RA in my knee
It took me 3 weeks before I started noticing that I was not losing so much hair -- I was on Mobic - meloxicam for 2 months. Now a month and a half after quitting it I noticed it is starting to grow back in! Good Luck
My hairloss started last August, stopped mobic in November and my hair is still falling. I am a 44 yr old personal trainer, health fanatic and very healthy. I was prescribed mobic for hip pain that runs in my family. The mobic forced my hair into the Tellogen phase and it will be months before the hair shedding cycle comes to an end. I am furious for not being warned of this by my doc.
I started taking meloxicam a little over 8 months ago after my doctor suspected I may have an autoimmune disorder. It worked well on the body pain and general hypsersensitivity and I felt better overall.
About a month ago my hair started falling out. I'm not on any other medications, I'm in good health otherwise, my thyroid is fine. I'm only 42 and no one in my family has had any history of hair loss. I'm not under a lot of stress. However I am highly sensitive to most drugs so I researched meloxicam related hair loss.
What I found was there are MANY people experiencing this 'rare' side effect. I decided the stop taking it. I had to cut back slowly over a month and during that time I experienced bouts of depression, the sudden end to water retention that I hadn't noticed before (getting up to pee about three times that night) and sadly the return of my pain. I feel less fatigued but now I have insomnia.
It's been just over a week since my last dose. My hair is still falling out like rain, but I'm hoping after a few more weeks it will stop and start to regrow. I'm also hoping my skin and nails will no longer be so dry and that the slight rash on my neck will disappear.
Fingers crossed.
I realize this is an older discussion board, but just in case someone has these questions. I stopped taking Meloxicam after two months. After two weeks I noticed a SIGNIFICANT change in the amount of hair I was loosing. Obviously, the hair I lost needs to grow back in, but after just two weeks I noticed a difference.
I took Meloxicam for 6 weeks and noticed more hair loss after shampooing, combing, etc. My doctor said it was my subclinical hyperthyroidism. However, could not find discussion boards that talk about hair loss from SCHP -- but lots about Mobic - meloxicam. I have had the thyroid issues for 6 months and did not have hair loss. Went to my hair dresser mid December and everything was fine. Started Mobic second week of March and have seen considerable hair loss since then. Went to hair dresser last week and she would not do ANYTHING to my hair because it was so thin and sparse.
My question is -- How long does it take to reverse -- my hair is so thin on top it looks like 3 hairs per inch!
I experienced hair loss on humira, burned up.fell out, also skin burn , now just started mobic and wondering if has like ingredient. Skin starting su burn but not as bad.
Did you go off of the Meloxicam? If so, did your hair stop falling out? I have been on it for a year and just in the past 3 weeks I have lost half of my hair. Worried. Not taking anymore.
