my cardiologist neglected to specify what type of metropolol 50 on my prescription and so the pharmacist gave me metropolol succinate 50. when i returned weeks later for my refill i discovered that he now had changed the pills to metropolol tartarate 50. Is this going to be a problem for me or does it make no difference?

No, that just designates the specific chemical salt that the drug is derived from, but it actually has not effect on the efficacy of the medication. Both Succinate and Tartrate will work the same and are pretty much interchangeable.

There are rare cases where someone may be sensitive to one or the other and it may not work as well, so you might want to make sure to keep an eye on you blood pressure and heart rate for a few days to see if they are any unusual changes, but it's very unlikely that you'll experience any.

Are there any other questions?
