i have been taking meformin for a month and i have headach all the time is rhere anything i can do or take to stope the headach ## To answer your first question regarding "What is Metformin"; Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood. As far as the ...

side effects ## I believe what you are referring to is Metformin, the generic version of the diabetes drug Glucophage, here's the monograph info with side effects: Metformin Info Click Here ## My husband (55 years old) just started using Metformine this past week due to a glucose of 134 (A1 of 7.4) and within a couple of days, what he thinks is a re-occurance of gout has kicked in. Started in his heal and now in his ankle. He has not had a gout attack this painful in many years. Can there be any chance that this medication could have initiated this? ## Then would the lactic acidosis trigger the gout?

He prescribed exercise, dieting and two tablets of cetapin xr 500mg, one after breakfast and one after dinner. He never asked for any test for diabetes but only asked if it is there in my family. None of my parents have it, but my uncle has it. Can u please help? Am i diabetic? Or can this medicine be prescribed only for excess weight? ## This contains the active ingredient Metformin, which is an oral antidiabetic medication, but it has been successful at helping some people lose weight, by improving the way their body uses insulin. Is two 500 hcl metformin the same as 1000 er ## Hi tam, Not entirely. While the dosage certainly adds up to 1000mg, there is still a big difference between immediate release formulas and extended (time-released) formulas. The time-released tablets are more geared towards 24 hour - around the clock pain relief; while the standard immediate release tabs are said to be more ideal for short term pain management patients. Whether you take 500mg or 1000mg of Metformin, the time-release effect will always outlast the immediate release effect in terms of longer pain relief (although some patients claim the immediate release formula to have a stronger effect, since it hits you all at once, per say). I hope this explanation helps! ## Only if they are also time released, since you listed ER by the...

I am taking a tablet of Galvus-Met 50/500 and Metride 1. These are very costly medicines and I am looking for some cheaper combination. Mydiabetese Type II is monitored as follows PP Blood 163.4 Fasting 96.63 Hb1AC 6.03 Pl advise. Will X-met be cheaper and equally effective. ## No, the X-Met only contains the active ingredient Metformin. Learn more Metformin details here. But in the Glavusmet there is Vidagliptin and Metformin and in the Metride there is Glimepiride and Metformin, so the X-Met is not an equivalent medication. Learn more Vidagliptin details here. are m350 injectable? ## The pill in description marked M 350, is Metformin hydrochloride ER (750 mg). When you inject this specific pill, you're also getting the following inactive ingredients in your veins; which is very dangerous in my honest opinion: carnauba wax silicon dioxide colloidal magnesium stearate polyethylene glycol stearic acid Some people may have found ways to filter these out through various processes (i.e. microwaving, crushing, shifting, etc), but I'm just offering my own two-cents here and wouldn't recommend injecting something that should be taken orally.

my doctor prescribed metformin 500 mg to take 2 tablets twice a day isnt that a bit much? also i am supposed to take a shot of lantus solostar no. 6 at bedtime both are supposed to be for my diabetes isnt this abit much/ ## No, there are people who are prescribed much higher doses, it really depends on how severely your blood sugar levels are out of control. If, at a later time, your blood sugar level has come down and is doing better, your dosage can be lowered, or if this dosage doesn't work, it can be raised even higher or other medications added. Learn more Metformin details here. Usually, someone is prescribed a higher dosage, at first, to bring their blood sugar down safely, but as fast as possible, because the longer it's elevated, the higher the risk of organ damage, ner...

i have been prescribed metadoze ipr 500( metformin) and montair lc ( montelukast sodium ) tablets after i was diagnosed with high sugar. if i discontinue the medication, i get an itching sensation. is the itching sensation a side effect of the medicines or is it due to sugar levels? ## It's rather difficult to say, it could be due to a sudden withdrawal of them, or nerve damage from the diabetes. Learn more Metadoze details here. Learn more diabetes details here. I'd suggest consulting your doctor. As to the Montelukast, that's not used to treat diabetes.
