Medical Aid Wants To Change Chronic Meds
UpdatedMedical aid wants me to change chronic meds. I'm bipolar and are on Lamitor 300mg, Dopaquel 200mg and Venlor 225mg. They want me to use in their words a "cheaper" medicine like seroquel instead of Venlor despite motivational letters from my psyhiatrist. He is after all the treating specialist that walked a long way with me in getting the right combination that works. I have been on many different ones until I settled with these meds. They refuse to pay for the venlor even though i use the generic efegen. I'm already on Dopaquel which is the same as the Seroquel, in other words it would be a duplication. I don't think this is fair it is after all a PMB condition. Will it have the same effect if I change the meds. I don't want to but would like to know if somebody has been in the same situation.

Hi, I am was on dopaquel 75mg but stopped taking them about 2 months ago as my medical doesn't pay for them. Medical aids are not interested in keeping you on the same medication even if it works for you instead of the generics. Medical aids also make you pay for other products that you do not need. All medical aids want is to take your money, make you pay and don't really care about what YOU NEED! I have had to go off a lot of medications that help me but are expensive and what my medical aid doesn't pay for.
