Massive Amount Of Methadone In System

lost daughter n law due to her having 143 m/l of methadone, 80.8 vicadene, 11.4 hydromorphone morphin, she also had anoxic-Encephalopathy, the autopsy report stated death due 2 a massive over-dose of methadone. Could u please explain the dosage to me n lay-mens terms. how many pills would 143 m/l consist of, also the same on vicadene, & morphine. Also if Amanada only had 1 of said drugs n her system would she still have died???? Thanking u n advance for u/r help & answers.PIVBJA

I'm very sorry for your loss.

First, to answer your question about one drug, as compared to having several in her system, it is hard to say with any certainty, because very high levels of anything do have the potential to be fatal. However, in most cases, overdose deaths occur due to the mixture of multiple drugs causing someone's body to go into shock, it just can't process the huge amounts of each one, to put it simply, the body gets confused and crashes, similarly to what would happen with a computer if you tried to open and run far too many programs all at the same time.

That said, it's hard to give any specifics on the dosage/amounts that she took of any of them, because much of it can be specific to her body and some of them can potentiate each other, so she could have taken a low amount, but the coupling with something else may have made it seem like it was much more.

Another factor that would come into play is whether or not she had a tolerance to the drugs, for instance, if she used Methadone regularly, she may have required a far higher amount of it to reach a toxic level, than someone else who has never taken it before.

Ok, So Amanda had 143MG of Methadone.
Methadone comes in Tablets of 5mg and 10 mg. No more/less.
So she would have had to take 14 10Mg tablets or 28 5MG tablets! If she would have just taken the methadone by its self, depending on her weight(i weigh 135lbs and take 115mgs of Methadone every day) And if she had Been taking the methadone for more than 2 or 3 days then She Probably(In my Expert opinion) would have been OKAY.
BUT
What probably was fatal to her was mixing it with the Hydromorphone. The other ones really didnt Contribute. Just the Methadone and the Hydromorphone(Dilaudid, Brand name)
mixed made it fatal.

I went to the hospital last month for Unimaginable Pain due to back surgery 2 years ago(they put 2 rods and 28screws&bolts in my back, the surgery went wrong and now the screws are out of place)
Anyways. The doctor gave me 2 shots (4 hrs a part)of 2MG Hydromorphone/Dilaudid.
And they were hesitant about doing that being that im 18.
Dilaudid/Hydromorphone(same thing, Dilaudid is the Brand Name of the drug, Hydromorphone is Generic name) is Only Avalible in 2 and 4MGS.
If she took 11.4MGS of Dilaudid, that means she either took 5and a half tablets of the 2MGS or 2 and a Half 4MGS.
Which IS A LOT for one person!
I once took 1and a half Dilauded tablets, the 4MG and I was SO MESSED UP. I have never and Will never do that again.

But the Methadone by its self would have been OK if her body was kindof used to the drug.(Meaning if she was taking Methadone on a daily basis for 3/4 days whatever MG, her body would have gotten used to the methadone and it would have been OKAY.)
The Dilaudid By itself would have been OK too. She would have just been REALLY messed up!



BUT,
What probably happend to Amanda before she died was:
She took however much Methadone FIRST!
And Methadone is a drug that Blocks the High from Opiates. It is given to Heroine addicts, so that if they ever decide to do heroine again while still taking the Methadone. They Will NOT fill the Euphoria from the Heroin(which is the whole Point of Doing the Heroine, is for that Euphoric Rush/High that it gives the brain.)

So she first took the methadone, However many pills of that she took.. doesnt really matter beause just 1MG of the Methadone will still make you NOT get High from an Opiate.
And When you take Methadone, You really dont feel it for almost an hour. So she took MORE AND MORE to try to feel it.

Hydromorphone/Dilaudid is an Opiate.(Which means the Methadone would have Blocked the receptors in the brain that get u high when u take an opiate)

So. Then a bit after taking the Methadone,I think she got ahold of the Dilaudid.

First she probably only took a little of the Dilaudid.
When she could NOT feel the High from the Dilaudid she probably thought She didnt take enough of it.
And kept taking MORE of Each to try and get HIGH.


(Keep in mind, I have went to college for Pharmaceudicals..or Pills in Laymen terms for the last 8 yrs of my life. Before that I was someone who had surgery and was forced to take pills. So this is really my area of Experties.)

So i think MIXING the Methadone with the DIlaudid, was ultimatley Fatal to Amanda.
The other Meds did not contribute to the outcome.
Because they dont have a High. Thats why its not abused.

And you said she had
80.8 MG of vicadene.
Did you mean Vicoden?

If you DID mean Vicoden, That is a Pain pill.
And the highest dose of Vicoden they make is 10 MG.
That means she Must of taken 8 10MG Vicoden.

But if you want more info on what Vicoden is go on Google and type in the generic name for it which is Hydrocodone.

And if you ment Vicoden and she took 80 MG of that.. YES. That DEFINATLEY could have contributed to her death.
Because that is an opiate. Just like the Dilaudid is an Opiate.
Opiates are Respratory DEPRESSANTS..
Which means with the High amounts of each Opiate, They could have made her STOP breathing, they Definatley SLOWED her breathing Down by Alot.
But if there is a possibility that she could have fell asleep... Then with the very HIGH doses of these VERY POWERFUL Opiates... The actual Way she died was her lungs, she Stopped Breathing.
