I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!
I was on lyrcia for several years have lost short term memory. Unable to spell, forget everyday things I need to do. This memory thing is not getting any better. This is not worth it. Im off now however memory will never come back
I have been on Lyrica for over 2 years now for my Fibromyalgia which it has helped tremendously with the pain, but i have had a hard time keeping my train of thought and remembering things. I get random dizzy spells and feel physically and mentally drained all the time. I recently injured my back unexpectedly and my Dr increased the dosage of my Lyrica to try to help with the nerve pain i am now having associated with my now back issues. My back injury took place a few months ago now and im having an even harder time staying concentrated and keep having even more of a brain fog. My back is still hurting through the lyrica so i am going to be going to see a Surgeon tomorrow and am hoping they can figure out a better more suitable way to help me with this constant pain. I feel sad and cry all the time and have been so overly emotional about everything and was never like this before so im not sure if its related to the lyrica on not!
When i was on Lyrica it was the worst time of my life. It is the only time i can ever say i considered suicide in my whole life. I was a very out going person and turned into a zombie. My children were very scared for me. It went on for a year. But i was that sick and in that much pain and depression. Severe memory loss. Finally ditched that doctor and the medicine and i vow to never ever take it again. I wish there was a class action suit against this medicine.
Same problems and Health Canada defines Canada along the mindset of "we're NOT the USA". Fine, how about judging Pfizer for dishonesty and ruinous the lives of Canadians? Or did they tell us the truth and simply lie to the Americans? And don't kid yourselves you've made Canadians SUFFER from your nasty protection of them just so we're not "like the USA". Health Canada should be ashamed of themselves allowing us to believe this drug was "safe" when it's NOT! they must be afraid those of us who are now disabled from it are just trying to collect a few bucks...yea, is love to have the money to buy the items my stupid doctor writs me prescriptions for (tens machine, double sided wrist supports, a lens for my eyeball lens-transplant made in Holland only but not approved for payment in Canada). They say they their job is to protect us from these drug-pushers AND THEY COLLABORATE WITH THE PIGS! Real problem is: Americans refuse to allow their government to be their dictators and WE make me sick! We're just a People of submissive little WORMS! Truth is: Pfizer knew they were liars and Health Canada sold us out! Anything they sell is probably lies so refuse to buy any product made by them - OR behave in wormly ways like we always do. Stand up for ourselves and be more like the Americans! Got a problem with that? If you do then keep acting like a no-mind Canadian and let drugs like this synaptic altering drug keep your brain fried...because THAT is what it does.
I am in Canada and trying to find a class action lawyer who will take this on. Lyrica has destroyed my life.
YES.... I am with anyone forming a class action suit re: long list of long-term results from any dosages of damned Lyrica I've been taking for 14 years, now with serious complications, willing to see 'any' attorney's physician! As well as due to the failures in passing on the RARE AND LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS TO PHYSICANS...as in, failure to make them FULLY aware but aware only of the common ...this goes down as yet a second reason for a class action. Attorneys out there, PLEASE WRITE ME BACK FOR FULL DISCLOSURE OF MY ORDEAL, STILL taking place as I type with kidney, eye, skin, bladder, stomach nerve implications long-term. Thank you.
Hello , Were you able to get any information on filing a class action lawsuit against the company that distributes lyrica ? My friend has had the same side effects as most others and were wondering if anyone has made any strides ? Thank you ! Sandy
Lyrica works for withdraw from opioids. Swim used it to come off of methadone and it worked on day one.
I took Lyrica for a few years and my short term memory is gone. Have been off of for several years and my memory has not gotten any better
My 65 yr old mother was prescribed lyrica for shingles pain and suffered a minor stroke. Now she has to take more meds she probably doesn't need and she's a mess. My best friend was prescribed lyrica for neuropathy and after about six months he died in his sleep. This stuff needs to be taken off the market. Western medicine doctors need to be held responsible for not informing patients of side effects.
Dawn, I can truly relate!!!!I too have great issues with Lyrica. I actually had to be life flighted to Birmingham for bleeding in the brain and aneurysm surgery. When I decided to come off it was a TOTAL nightmare! I am a recovering alcoholic and knew what I was going through was withdrawal symptoms. I am so outraged at my Dr. and this company. HOW DARE THEY? Now I have no memory at all and have a hard time with simple tasks.
I took it for about 7 months and had the same thoughts..and still do..I gained weight that I can't loose now...and I became severely depressed...I stopped cold turkey and for a while..it seemed like things were getting worst...after being off for 2 years...I am not the same happy go lucky person...I have suicidal thoughts all the time and failure thoughts... I just want to b me again
I feel you! I took Lyrica for 6 months. Became so anxious that I was having control issues. Like driving was the hardest thing and I'm 54 years old. Had thoughts off driving off bridges, etc. Serious memory and decision skill loss.
After coming off slowly, I'm starting to improve, but still have a LONG way to go before I feel comfortable in my own mind. Losing your ability to think and behave normal is very scary.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a lawyer. I contacted many and they weren't interested. I used to be on Darvocet for my pain, until they pulled it off the market. It had less side effects and was less dangerous than Lyrica. It is my opinion that they pulled it was because they wanted to put people on Lyrica, the new pain reliever and better than aspirin. Lyrica cured all kinds of pain. I even saw one person was using it for his gout, which I had said a year or so previously that Lyrica was the new aspirin that relieved headaches to gout. It was a shock to me that they were using it for migraines and gout!!!! The drug Darvocet had fewer side effects than Lyrica but they pulled Darvocet because the drug companies were making more money off of Lyrica than Darvocet. The only people that can help are your attorney generals of each state. They have the money and the means to deal with Lyrica, the thing wrong is they are overwhelmed with health complaints from medication to nursing homes. I've given up the fight. I just say I'm disabled and leave it like that. If you do find someone, let us know.
Kiki - so sorry for your loss. My husband was just a year earlier and it doesn't get any better. He was the happiest person on the planet until he started taking these drugs. To those who have lost their children, my heart aches for you. No one should have to go through this. If anyone can help us all and let us know what law firm is taking these cases it would be great. This drug needs to be taken off the market.
After 39 years of seizure free, my seizures came back with a vegence when a doctor put me on keppra. I had a 5 day in Hospital eeg. The neuro changed me to lyrica and it didn't help. I was on this for 9 months. I began having severe panic and anxiety spells. I gained 60 pounds. That was very depressing. I quit cold turkey on Feb 2014. I have lost all the weight and had to dig out skinny clothes. I have loved that. While taking lyrica my memory, recall and other related things accelerated. Dr told me this was part of my disease process. I would definitely be ready to file lawsuit.
when the ball starts rolling on legal action regarding Lyrica my son will definitely be in on it ..but have not come across a lawyer willing to take it on ...
My husband took his own life as well on New Years Eve December 2015. He was in the maximum dose of Lyrica for a bad cervical disk herniation. He was never depressed or suicidal in his life but had 2 prior attempts before his death. The doctors just kept prescribing the damn pills despite the suspected side effects of suicide.
I would be interested in talking to people who have filed suit against Lyrica as a result of alleged injuries.
