Legal Suit Against The Makers Of Nasonex (Page 6)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

In December I was diagnosed w/ cataracts in both eyes (I'm only 54). Two days ago I heard an ad on TV for Nasonex & it mentioned cataracts were a possible side effect. I used Nasonex for a few months a couple of years ago & I just bet it's the culprit behind my eye problems. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

I took nasonex for awhile, it stopped working for my allergies, so I took flonaise. Stoped that when I lost my sense of smell, and sense of taste is comprimised. No mention of that in side effect info. Is there a class action suit on these guys? I would like to join if there is.

Reading these replies, I have gotten very scared!A few months ago I was diagnosed with cataracts. This was a surprise because I am fairly young, healthy, and active. My opthamologist told me they were from steroid use. I couldn't imagine how I got them because the only drug I had been using was Flonase! I didn't realize that counted as a steroid!!!! I am almost blind now. Problem is my insurance doesn't cover $5,000.00 of the cataract surgery. I only make enough to live on and I haven't been able to take on extra work or get a new job because I am blind!!!!! I would have NEVER used Flonase if I knew it would effect my vision. What can you do without your vision? People are so nonchalant about cataract surgery - Its your EYES. What if you have to stay this way because you can't afford the operation, or if something goes wrong with the surgery. Don't tell me you will have the same eyesight after surgery without any irritations. Before this I didn't even need glasses. I am all by myself. Who will take care of me. Someone should do something about this!!!! If I hadn't heard the TV commercial with the Nasonex warning I would have never known !

I used Nasonex for nassal congestionm. I later developed high eye pressure and glaucoma in one eye. Laser treatment failed. Glacoma operation healing along with cateract removal. I am 85 so the cateract is not surprizing.
A class action lawsuit is appropriate, I feel.

My son is 8 and his ENT prescribed him Nasonex for his allergies. He took it for a week at bed time. After reading this, risk do not out weigh the benefits. I stopped immediately.

Funny how we have the same story over and over again. I would have never taken Nasonex had I been warned there was a risk of blindness. The packets now still dont mention risk of blindness, just say risk Glaucoma: Eye Swelling. Diagnosed with Perenial Rhinitis (year round sneezing) about 35, perscribed Nasonex, by 38 I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and partially blind in one eye.

I would really like to see a class action suit brought against the people that make these nasal sprays. I have cataracts and would not have taken them if I had known. The eye surgeon said she can tell from the cataract that it is caused by steriods and thats the only steroid medication I have ever used. How do we sue?

I was wondering if nasonex caused puffiness around the eyes. As well, has anyone ever had trouble with premature atrial contractions(irregular heart beat), from taking nasonex. I have been taking this treatment for years and was unaware of any of these side affects that have been mentioned.

Better stop taking Prednisolone drops. They could cause cataracts!

O.M.G!!! Just read all these replys on Nasonex, April this year I had seasonal conjunctivitas, eyes all watery and swollen so went to the Doctors in all about 3 times over a period of time from April to late July and was prescribed 3 different eye drops, well any way when my eyes subsided and got better I was left with painful sinus pain, went back to the Doctors was prescribed Nasonex, sinus pain subsided. Had my annually Eye check up last week, Optician noticed I have the start of cateracts in my left eye and asked me if I had been using any eye steroid drops, said no because all the eye drops that I had been using had no steroids in. Just checked this web site out and did not realize that Nasonex had steroids in it, O.M.G!! Will be getting in touch with my Doctor and Optician tomorrow!!! All of my previous eye check ups by the way have always came back 20/20 vision. Even my Optician couldn't understand why I have got the start of cataracts!!! SHOCKED.... Anybody who want's to take this further let's do it, get in touch.

This all sounds so familiar to me. For years, perhaps 4, I had used different kinds of Steroid Nasal sprays such as Flonaze and Nasonex for sinus problems causing stuffy nasal passages and constant infections. I went for an eye check and the Dr said that my eyes were at least 10 years older than myself due to the fact that I had started Cataracts at such an early age. I asked if the sprays could be the culprit, but, he said he didn't think so. Well, it wasn't long after that that I heard on the news and or read that these types of steroid sprays could indeed cause cataracts. It was then that I stopped using any of these and just suffered through my dilemmas of sinus problems. The next few visits to the Eye Dr, he said the progression of the cataracts had slowed down to an almost stop. This has all been at least 10 years ago. So far the cataracts have not Progressed any further. If you don't want early cataracts or any other problems that might go along with the use of these products, I'd recommend discontinuing all of these steroid sprays, unless you have a life threatening situation.

Used Nasonex in 2009 for sinus. Already had high IOP. But soon was put on Co-Sopt and then Travatan. Developed cataract. Nov. 2010 had cataract removal and the capsule shattered all over the eye, resulting in the need for a vitrectomy (vacuum out fragments) and months of follow up. Left with curved blur in that eye, untreatable. New ENT just prescribed Nasonex for 10 months of stuffed ears after bronchitis! How do I at least get a refund for the $57 unused bottle?

My eye doctor said that my cataracts were definately caused by steroid use because of thier location. The only steroids I have ever used are flonaze and nasonex. ( I think it is called flonaze ).

I used Nasonex 10 years ago for allergies and now at 50 I have cataracts. The eye doctor said it was caused by steroids. I told her about the nasonex and she said, yes that caused them. She could tell they were ones caused by steroids because they were posterior, or in the back of the lens. Some of these present higher risk of complications in surgery. I wonder if there is a legal suit. I would not have taken it if any had mentioned cataracts.

Prescribed Nasonex for stuffed sinuses, 2 sprays ea nostril twice a day. Never did more than half that for five days and began to have nose bleeds. It destroyed sinus membranes and I contracted staff infection in nose. This triggered violent viral bronchitis and the dry hacking cough was driving me to severe headache and a feeling of suffering an aneurism. Went to ER and told little could be done as bronchitis must run its course. Cannot lay down to sleep without launching into coughing spasm. Dealt with bloody nose 3-4 weeks before sinus and lung infections obviated themselves. I'm wore out and sleep only after shear exhaustion. Documented at PCP and local ER.

I used Nasonex several year ago, and have since developed glaucoma. I am the only one in my family with this problem. I have been wondering where the problem came from untill I saw the Nasonex warning on TV. I am constantly on the drug Cosopt to control the pressure in my eye, and scared to death of losing my eye. I have used the following drug to help keep my eye going, "Brimonidine tartrate, rimexolone aka Vexol, Dorzolamide HCI/Timolol, Travoprost aka Travatan, Prednisolone Acetate, bimaloprost aka Lumigan, Trifluridine. I can no longer expose my eye to sunlight anymore or else I get a relapse. I do not know how long this medication will keep my eye going. Can someone let me know what is going on.

I too went from glasses to bifocals. Which isn't right that a drug company should get away with the lose of my vision or anyone elses. We need a lawyer that will help all of us to receive compensation from this horrible drug.

I used Nasonex for more than 4 years then was put on Flonase. Last year I was diagnosed with glaucoma and saw and ad for Nasonex that it could cause glaucoma or other eye afflictions. No one in my family had ever been diagnose with glaucoma besides a grandmother who had diabetes, which I do not have. So now I will lose my sight because of a drug used to treat allergies. I would like to participate in a lawsuit against the company who distributes this lethal drug. If anyone has a suggestion of who would be willing to help with this, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.
