There is no 500/325 Hydrocodone, did you mean 5/325?
No, they have not done anything different, but some medications work better for some people than others, which is why there are usually multiple choices available in any given drug class. For example, when given Dilaudid in the hospital, it gave me a severe headache every time, however, it is what they often use in the ER for people that come in with severe migraines.
That said, that can also apply to the side effects, while Hydrocodone doesn't bother you, the Codeine in the Tylenol 3 could cause you to experience nausea. I can give another example here, because they also affect me very similarly, Codeine makes me very shaky and nauseous, but if I take Hydrocodone, it alleviates my pain and just makes me drowsy.
