Ok so I have to take a hair drug test for a new job. They said it would go back a year and well I am freaking out right now because I took some methamphetamine (a very small amount) back in september of last year.

A hair drug test is meant to show consistent use over time. A 1.5 inch sample, cut at the scalp line, will go back 90 days. Since I have no idea how much was taken in it is hard to answer the question. My first reaction is that you will be positive, depending on when yo have to take the hair test.

Hello the hair testing guy - ok, here's my problem, around July 15th I had methamphetamine [ I didn't know that's what it was ] I took it about 4 times, I know sounds stupid but I never have even seen it until someone told me. I haven't done it again since then, only September 23rd I had to take a hair test for work. I did a urine test and It was negative for it. Do you think I will test positive for the hair test?? I have really thin hair, and I'm really nervous, please reply! Thank you in advance!

Read my post #82. My best guess is that you didn't do enough that would show up on a hair drug test so you should be negative.

I have taken methamphetamine for 5 days but I haven't had any today and I have a hair test in 95 days. Will I be ok?

Most places will take a 1.5 inch sample of hair which represents 90 days so if you stay off the methamphetamine for 95 days you should be able to pass a hair drug test.

Okay my bfhas a hair test for a job he went to a interview for and this Tuesday he relapsed and did meth. I'm trying to stay on his ass be he needs to do better and be better. Who can he pass his test?. He has been on drugs for a while and clean for a while but he messed up about a month ago and now Tuesday so HELP

Passed mine, so did my girlfriend. Not sure if the cleaner helped but we used baking soda water to damage the hair then washed it with the Clorox toilet bowl cleaner and also used fresh lemon ...but we also weren't heavy users...

So you have clearly stated that it is intended for detecting habitual use. I've been reading all of the good news for the light users or the occasional users however I haven't seen anything yet very promising in way of what if you are a habitual user? Can a habitual user one who has habitually used consistently for years pass a hair follicle test at all somehow, someway?

Hey KK, One reason hair drug testing is being used more and more is that it is a hard test to fool. It takes approximately 7-10 days for the hair to grow above the scalp for it to be tested. From the limited info you gave, if your bf has been clean for a while he might be negative on a hair drug test.

As for Me (post 89). It is unlikely a heavy user could pass a hair drug test, that's just the way the science of hair testing works. For example drug use amounting to 1-2 times per week could possibly show up a on a hair drug test.

My husband has a hair test monday and had a bit of marijuana last thursday. He keeps his hair short to about 0 to 1/2 inch but he cuts his hair weekly. He cut his hair on friday and this is a DOT hair test taken at a hosp. He really wants this job. Will he pass?

Actually having short head hair can cause some people problems. If the hair on the head is to short they might take body hair which shows a further back time frame so if he did very much marijuana in the last 6-9 months it might show up. But if they do use head hair I doubt it will show up because he didn't do enough drug to show positive.

I have been clean from methamphetamine for 4 months but I relapsed last night. I didn't have a large amount, just 1 point. I have to take a hair follicle test in the next month. I've heard it will only show up if you're a consistant user and I've heard it doesn't matter the amount. I really need advice on what to do?

If you did a large amount there is a possibility it could show up but since I don't know the amount and the strength of the methamphetamine it really is hard to say. My best guess is that you have 60/40 chance of being negative. The only real way to know would be to do your own anonymous hair 5 drug panel test.

I have had methamphetamine and currently take Adderall but was asked to do a hair test looking for methamphetamine. Wouldn't my Rx Adderall show up for methamphetamine?

Most likely whoever is doing the test the adderall will show up as amphetamine and not meth. For hair drug testing purposes they are two different substances.

FYI if you are using body hair samples, the highest panel test that I was offered was a 5-panel + opioids. It is to my knowledge that they can only use hair that is above the waist including armpit hair as anything below the waist can potentially be contaminated by using the bathroom and isn't admissible in court or won't hold up in court. Also comma if you know the test results are going to adversely affect you then maybe try to find a lookalike who will pass for you. Cheers
