I know the oxycodone HCL has some sort of salt in it and it’s just regular oxycodone. And I understand the IR is immediate release. Then they have extended release. But is the oxycodone HCL an extended or an immediate release?? Thank you!

- IR means immediate release (works quickly).
- ER/XR means extended release (released slowly over hours).
So, Oxycodone HCl can be either IR or ER. If your bottle doesn’t say ER/XR, it’s almost always the immediate-release kind.
If you'd like, share the NDC code that's on your prescription, and I can look up the leaflet from the manufacturer just to make sure.

Thank you! Very kind of you to answer and let me know. I appreciate it. But that’s good enough. I believe it is the fast acting then. Because it doesn’t say ER or the XR that you mentioned.
