I took this drug in the 1970's while pregnant. Am looking for the side effects to the babies. Drug has been off the market for many years. Not sure on correct spelling. Used for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Thank you for any help you can send me. Sincerely, Dana.

Emitrodoc, I keep wondering what you have at stake on this forum. You are starting to sound hysterical. Are you also defending the use of thalidomide, which is again being prescribed I believe in South America.

The club feet issue is interesting because the daughter with whom I took bendectine has short wide feet (not normal for our family) and has a terrible time finding shoes. Not the same category as club feet, but could be seen as part of a gradation of symptoms. My daughter has four children who all have what is called mid line defects -- meaning tongue tie, which can be considered a mild form of cleft palate.

My mam was prescribed Debendox (Bendectin) I was born in 1976 with my right hand missing.

I have watched the news on this drug for 38 years. The real answer lies I believe in the original composition and the falsified clinical studies. Freedom of information of the raw data from the 1970 is what is needed. Iam not a doctor,scientist or the like but I pray every day this company is held responsible. Thank you for all your support to these forgotten souls....like me and my daughter. Blessing.

I took this drug for all 3 of my pregnancies. My oldest daughter is now 21 and she was unable to have children. She now has breast cancer. My middle daughter does not seem to have been affected by the drug. My third daughter most likely has some kind of ADD.

my oldest died at age 48 cervical cancer. my oldest son died at 47 undetected heart condition. my youngest son 38 has lobar holoprosencephaly. my wife took this drug for all four children. tthe drug title is mis spelled. the name is bendectin.

My daughter, born in 1972, has ADHD/ADD. She repeated Kindergarten and also First Grade. She graduated with a Special Diploma just six months before turning 21. I have always wondered why she was different than my other daughter. Then I was on the Nerflix watching a movie about Thalidomide and that got me wondering. My daughter works as a school bus attendant for special kids. She thinks she may need her medication again since she has trouble concentrating and remembering things. I hope we get some answers.

Due to a laundry list of mental issues, some of which I blame on bendectin. I have a really hard time being able to read long posts. What I was able to read was enlightening. My mom took bendectin in 1980. As a result I ended up with hemihyperplasia, three fingers on my right hand, and tarsal coalition, not to mention the mental issues that I have suffered with for the 35 years of my life. All of which have hindered my ability to work. Not that anything can be done about the long- term effects these medications, but I do feel that I need to lend my voice as one of the victims. Unfortunately I have to deal with my many problems one problem at a time. It is good to know that there are others out there that understand my pain and suffering. Vicki and I have chatted a couple of times over the last couple of years. I just wish there was more people here in the states that I could talk to about this. Thank you for listening and be well.

I also took benedictine during my first pregnancy in 1982. But in 1985 with my second pregnancy I was told it was out-lawed. My oldest daughter has had digestive health problems since kindergarten and several surgeries.

Look, just because all of you 'feel' there's a connection doesn't mean you can 'prove' there is one. You might 'feel' it messed up your kid, but then there are hundreds of others who 'feel' it did not mess up their kids and their kids turned out perfectly normal.

I am the son of a mother who popped this Bendectin stuff like candy because she couldn't handle the nausea. On the outside, I look like a completely normal human being yet I am completely warped on the inside. Ever since I was a little kid, other kids have hated me. My friendships and relationships throughout life have all fallen apart when people realize I'm sort of retarded/depressed... whatever. I can pass myself off as human for a while, but then eventually the normal people sniff me out as a retard hiding in the skin of a normal person.

I've never been able to learn or absorb things. I had to guess and cheat just to get through high school. I listen to violently aggressive death metal because its really the only kind of music that makes sense to me. I've given up talking to people. I just work and try to find the occasional good book to disappear into.

Over the past few years, my nerves have deteriorated. It began to hurt watching tv or reading a book. Now I can no longer physically read books or watch tv. So, I spend most of my life just sitting in darkness thinking or listening to audiobooks waiting for cancer or some other salvation to really end me. I wouldn't mind being hated by everyone in the world if I could at least just sit on a couch and whittle the hours watching movies or playing video games but I'm not even granted that one wish.

I'm not sure what love is because people do not love retards like me; they hate them and wish to weed them out of the gene pool. I am just normal enough to realize this. And to know that I got dealt a bad card most likely because of this drug.

But there's what you feel and what you can prove and you can't prove any of this. You just have to suffer. That's your lot in life. With all that I've said here, I've seen plenty of people who have worse lives than I do. So I don't know that I even have a right to sit here and complain.

My wife just found out her mom took Bendectin in 1970. She is 45 now. This explains all her pain and suffering through the years. Multiple surgeries both wrists both shoulders triple neck fusion, degenerative spine disease, nausea growing up, can't have children, social anxiety, bowel problems, migraines, bloody nose. List goes on. We need any information of any legal cases still out there.

I to was prescibed benedectin while i was pregnant with my first child in 1974 I was always nauseated throwing up all the time. This went on thru out the entire time i was pregnant. I was loosing weight rather than gaining. When i would tell the doctor how i was feeling he wouldnt say anything but "see you next month." I was still wearing my clothes i had from before i got pregnant when i went into labor and went to hospital then nurses were lifting up my blouse looking for my stomach they couldnt believe i was pregnant but i was. I was in labor15 hours before they decided to do a C section on me. The baby had the umbellical cord around his neck 3 times. When he was born so tiny 5lbs 3 ounces the doctor told me he was born with 2 holes in his heart and wanted to do open heart surgery on him I said no he is too tiny. So they waited untill he was 4 yrs old . During the first yrs he was in and out the hospital he suffered much from diarreah he started ealking at 14 months and suffered a lot with passing out he would tire easily. He is 42 yrs old now and still has that problem on top of schizophrenia that he developed as an adult. He is not able to care for himself he grew up with learning disabilities all his life suffered a lot in school with kids making fun of him he had special education thru out his school years and thru it all he was able to graduate his 12th grade He had a heart pacer at 17 yrs old . He kept fainting at school and the doctor felt he needed the pacer.I could tell you so much more but im sure for now you can only imagine how life for him and i has been.He is totally dependant on me.

I took the drug Benedectin in 1979 my daughter suffers from all kinds of things and i still to this day blame myself for taking this medicine . I would love to talk to people who took this drug and see what their experiences are with the effects. She had learning disabilities ,had Duanes syndrome the nerve from her eye to her brain was underdeveloped, has severe ear problems wears hearing aids in both ears ,found out in her 20's she has beginnings of glacoma. would love to hear from others with similar effects.

I took bendectin during my first and second pregnancy. Miscarried at 3 and a half months with the first one in 1979; pregnant with a second baby in late 1979 with full term delivery in August 1980. I had a son..soon as we got him home non stop crying..no sleeping all night till the second baby came in May 2002. First one has learning disabilities. Severe ADHD, anxiety, OCD, bipolar. Very unhappy still today and will be 36 this year. Has no worries about the outcome if his actions, makes snap decisions without considering the end result. Has been a drug addict since age 16 with multiple arrests, stents in hospital and drug rehab w/o long term sobriety being obtained. Multiple suicide attempts. I have always known from day 1 of taking him home that there was something horribly wrong, we could not enjoy him as a baby nor as an adult due to all the issues. Afraid of what he will become if I die before him. Have huge fear he will die of an overdose. I love him very much but have never believed he was ok.

I have four children born in 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1981. I took Benedictin only during the pregnancy for my second child. She was born with congenital heart defects. Her open heart surgery was at 4 months at Columbia Presbyterian Babies in New York with Dr. Fred Bowman.

She is now 40, and over the past several years has had continuous issues of exhaustion which has now been attributed to her heart. She will have another open heart procedure in the next months to correct the inadequacy in her circulation.

I took this drug with my first child in 1975-1976. I lost him to a complete irruption of the placenta when a drunk driver hit me killing my child at 38 weeks and almost killing me. I also took this drug in 1977-1978 and had a healthy baby girl except for a very large birth defect which had to be removed on her arm. I distinctly remember after being pregnant the third time in 1981-1982 and being extremely ill, I was spending a great deal of time in the hospital unable to eat or stay hydrated.

I was told that this medication was still available in Canada, which the border was about 20 miles from my home. I refused to go to Canada to get a medication that could be dangerous to my child and rode out the pregnancy. I delivered a little girl who is now a pharmacist and has a 3 year old girl and newborn son of her own. No regrets!

I know this is nothing close to enough; however I wanted to reach out and tell you Ada that I care! I took this horrible drug and although I have a daughter that suffers some problems they are not nearly what you are going through. May God bless you and your dear son.

I took the drug while pregnant in 76. My daughter had early stages of cervical cancer, same as I did at age 29. My mother took the same drug. I know there was a major legal case but was not informed about it in time.
