My mother suffers from dementia. She was prescribed doxycycline for a uti. She has been feeling very confused since taking this. Could this be causing her confusion? ## Hello, Gail! I have amoxicillin trihydrate powder that was prescribed by my doctor for my daughter that I never used. I kept it in the fridge since may (it expires in 2018). I also have the appropriate amount of distilled water also given to me by the pharmacist. Upon speaking to the pharmacist I was just told the powder was not supposed to be kept in the fridge. Can I still use it?

I got an abscess as a result of a piece of a tooth breaking, and it was close to the root. When I initially went to the dentist, the abscess wasn't too big at all, the doctor gave me 500mg amoxicillin to take 3 times a day, and scheduled me for a root canal in two weeks. I was taking the amoxicillin for 3 days and didn't notice any changes, and the abscess & swelling got bigger and hard and hot to touch. I went back to the dentist to let them know the amoxicillin wasn't doing anything for me, to see if they can prescribe me another stronger antibiotic. They did not prescribe me another antibiotic, but instead told me I need to finish the amoxicillin in order to see any changes, and just prescribed me 800mg ibuprofen to take along with the amoxicillin. She told me that it will return and I must keep cleaning and applying medication on it. I have been doing this and it gets healed but this time it's not getting healed. I was prescribed Macrodantin to treat my UTI. Twice daily for five days. About two days after I competed the antibiotics, I started to itch everywhere, especially my hands and feet. They feel like the after effects of mosquito or ant bites. It's been four days and I'm still itching. The more I scratch, the more swollen it gets. 50mg of Benadryl helps me sleep through the night but I wake up with the effects the next morning. Aloe Vera helps for a few minutes. However, I think the only permanent solution would be getting the infected teeth out so the bacteria doesn't come back. I been taking antibiotics for about 18 days this sunday and will be done completely. My highest dose is 875 for amoxicillin. I'm using biotech ciprofloxacin 500mg I got them last week on Thursday from the clinic. They say I must take 1 tablet twice a day. They checked my urine and gave me these tablets.
