Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 8) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Re: JoshuaChrist (# 768)
Nope, not true.
You could blindfold me and give me a Teva one day and give me a different generic the next and I could tell you which is which.
Teva gives me a horrible headache and anxiety. It has nothing to do with chasing a high, it has to do with wanting medication to do it’s job without horrible side effects.
I have stopped taking the medication all together the last two months because it has been so bad.
Re: GodFirst (# 820)
Pretty sure Jesus said not to judge others lest you be judged.
As you just passed judgment on someone you did not know on an internet forum, I'm borrowing a concept from another religion and hoping karma comes knocking on your door soon. In this "drug war" climate, even Stage IV cancer patients get called "shoppers".
Tell me, do you enjoy spending your hard earned money on products that do not work as advertised? Why should medications be the one exception to the rule that people should seek out products that are worth the money rather than continue to buy poor merchandise? Judging by your handle, I'm pretty sure you believe in good ol' American Capitalism, too. Competition among businesses are an important aspect of capitalism, with the public having the right to 'shop around' for the best product. It is not illegal to do so.
Video games, cell phones, scratch tickets, chocolate bars, and alcohol all can cause addictive behavior, and they, unlike Schedule 2 or 3 medicines, do not have extremely important medical use. If you went to buy, say, a cell phone and found that it didn't turn on, that you couldn't return it and get your money back, I'm sure you would not be very happy. And unlike the fine ladies and gentlemen on this forum, you do not NEED the cell phone for severe life-ruining symptoms, you need it for business, communication, or pleasure. You would still have the right to be a 'seeker' or 'shopper' in order to find a working brand of cell phone and store that sells them.
The ill and suffering have a million times that right to 'seek' or 'shop' for medications that work as well. Why not aim your anger at those who deserve your fire'n'brimstone, like sexual assaulters, murderers, and those that abuse children and the elderly?
Oh yeah, because your type always goes after easy targets, and because you have too few brain cells to logically parse something as easy as "you should get what you pay for", choosing instead to spray spittle-flecked "doze junkeez ate my Chee-tos and are therefore ungodly!" faux-invective all over a secular forum.
I hope you've got a dictionary somewhere in the trailer underneath all those barbeque sauce-encrusted Reader's Digests as well as a few hours of time in between "Duck Dynasty" reruns, or I just wasted my time, "God First", ol' chap.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Teva has been in trouble for this before, having their generic for Wellbutrin approved and then pulled from the market. However I think it's important to clarify some information about generics because there seems to be considerable misunderstanding about the FDA's requirements. Under the Waxman-Hatch Act, generic drugs are required to be "Pharmaceutically Equivalent", that is they must have the same active ingredient, in the same strength, dosage form, and route of administration as the original brand-name formulation. When compared, tablets of brand name & generic Adderall will contain the same amount of amphetamine salts. The "plus or minus 20%" is actually a reference to the FDA's bio-equivalence (BE) requirement which is an overly complex standard that is growing more archaic by the minute, especially given the speed of advances in pharmacogenomic understanding and screening. Under the original definition, it was thought that "two pharmaceutical products are bio-equivalent if they are pharmaceutically equivalent and their bioavailabilities (rate and extent of availability) after administration in the same molar dose are similar to such a degree that their effects, with respect to both efficacy and safety, can be expected to be essentially the same". BUT, the FDA defines bio-equivalent as "the absence of a significant difference in the rate and extent to which the active ingredient or active moiety in pharmaceutical equivalents or pharmaceutical alternatives becomes available at the site of drug action when administered at the same molar dose under similar conditions in an appropriately designed study." The FDA uses randomized, crossover studies to determine bio-equivalence; these look at a at a variety of pharmacokinetic (pK) variables. That means the entire 90% confidence interval of these values must also fall between 80% and 125%. To achieve this, the pK values of the generic must be exceptionally close to the original. It seems good on paper but in reality there is a lot of room for variation.
Re: GenXGuyInMillennihell (# 899)
It is awful totally inactive !! But I got Aurobindo yesterday from martins grocery store and they seem to get better supplies then cvs ! Cvs and Walgreens are insurance owned ! Stay away from them . But sadly I’m noticing all meds are being targeted especially anything controlled. Plus start looking into the fact that the compounds or binders in meds don’t mix with this technology ! Metals in our body magnify the affects of the cell phone and computer and tv and blue light! You want blue light blocking glasses. 5G Mobile towers and the binders in medications don’t mix! We should’ve never had 4G but 5G will be the death of us...
Sadly I’ve been the victim of several medication scandals smh ! I was doing so well and then boom complete down hill with no help from drs or pharmacists so I started to wean off everything and get to the basics and I’ve learned that anything in the mental health category or pain category is targeted right now ! I think it’s evil that you now get generics based on what coverage you have and that insurance companies block generics that pharmacists have less problems with . Generic is generic cost wise. They created a legal way to kill off those on Disabilty and social security!
Re: Lo (# 914)
People have been been filing complaints for several years now to the FDA regarding Teva and other mfg. of add medications. I have yet to see the FDA take any action and sadly enough don't have any confidence they ever will
Re: David (# 913)
Not to turn this into a ''who's right'' match, but, I work at pharma companies under warning letters, consent decrees, 483's, only since 2012, none of them have died, one gets a warning letter and then maybe in a couple years the fda turns up and does an AUDIT of your records, audit meaning they don't look at everything, they don't bring equipment to evaluate the product, EVER! But lets talk about generics...they are NOT equivalent to brand names and that's not a secret, that's the definition, it can be made using different techniques, different excipients, different API's. (active pharmaceutical ingredients) and they're standard of proof?? They have to state that, "ours is just LIKE theirs" that's it!! There is no machine that you put differently made pills in and it says in robotic voice, "Mmmm, this Adderall is better than the other" or the converse, "this pill is sawdust and pig lips from India, made in unclean tanks using shotty chemistry" do you think insurance companies and Walgreen's buys barrels full of pills for what a monthly prescription for 1 person cost, because they like India, or because they like money and profit. mine is name brand=6k/month or $200/pill which I can tell you worked, people aren't making up the fact the loss of efficacy of generics, vs. generic, $67/month or $2/pill. But perhaps you're one of those crazy conspiracy theorists that thinks a 2002 KIa that costs $600 is the same as a 2019 Mercedes. that costs 85k. they must be the same right?? Because if not, KIA would be out of business...(sarcasm, showing your failed logic).
Re: Janny (# 927)
I took Sandoz 30mg IR over the last couple of years and felt the decline of the meds efficacy, so recently switched to (2) Teva 30mg IR per day and then tried (3) 20mg IR per day also Teva to see if the 20's were any better. Honestly I feel unmedicated on them both.
This is so unbelievably frustrating. Generic Adderall has literally ruined my life as every brand has a completely different effect on my personality. When I was taking CorePharma everything was fine. Now every month is a crap shoot as I desperately search for a brand that works: Sandoz, Zydus, Northstar, Teva, Auribindo, Mylan. I even tried switching to Vyvanse (horrible) and several different brands of dextroamphetamine. Nothing works.
Most people say Mallikrodt is the second worst to Auribindo, but that's my crap shoot for this month. I hear EpicPharma is now Core, but so far in the Portland area it hasn't been available. I wish I could have my doctor AND pharmacist understand (and believe) the problem so they could special order it, but they look at me like I'm a drug addict.
I don't understand how the FDA could allow this to happen. Most people are still under the impression all generic are the same. Clearly we know better than the people who spent 8 years of their lives studying it.
I thought I was going crazy. Everyone on just about every forum on the internet loves Teva. I got Teva for the first time this month (30mg IR tabs) because of this. It is absolute garbage. Does not do ANYTHING good for me and gives me ALL the negative side effects amplified.
Due to timeframe, it seems this might just be a very bad batch?
Re: Jrizzle (# 992)
While they (Teva Adderall 20MH IR) seemed to be working, this month (November)
and last month I noticed much less efficacy,
Also, the tablets actually appeared -slightly- smaller in size, and I also noticed
that the “sweet like sugar” flavor isn’t as pronounced...almost as if they took it out
Anyone notice these two changes?
Re: Dr Merritt (# 989)
What you don’t know is Teva doesn’t actually make the drug; it is Duramed Pharmaceuticals
I agree that the efficacy of generic Teva Adderall has changed for the worse, and these changes should be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch, a form you complete to report the symptoms you are experiencing to the FDA.
The more reports received, the more proactive the FDA will be
Re: Trutg (# 1030)
Note: TEVA has had serious problems, financially, & with upper management executives, + massive employee layoffs, & newer upper mfg executives walk off the job ! Ref: price fixing and other USA mfgs, as well from many AG's from various USA states. Too many problems to list here, imho, it began almost 10 yrs ago. A shame Teva/Barr once was the best Adderall in the USA. This is reference their Stimulant production/quality control, as well, in addition to the price fixing...relating as far back as 2012 to 2015. Also, Malllinckrodt (USA hdqtrs) filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2020. source (fiercepharma) + the mallie adderall were very poor adderall I/R for me back in 2015/2016. I gave up on all adderall I/R after taking it from 1994 until 2015. (from any mfg). I take either Teva generic Dextrostat or Mallie generic Dextrostat since 2016.
If possible find out where or whom Teva Adderall is "actually manufactured at" physical location. (once Sellersville PA, later in North Carolina, old info here, from before 2018) of course, the generic only, Instant Release !!
Source #2, there is a book published in the past few years, I saw it in my new Psychiatrist office, dedicated to corruption in the USA ethical pharma industry about ADHD & Narcolepsy meds, I do not have the ISBN# or title, yet. I just switched from a 20 yr relationship with now a retired shrink. My replacement "shrink" this year (2021) on my January intake, agreed with me, the stimulant market has been turned upside down for some years now. Both my shrinks warned me about the inconsistencies, all over the USA with nearly all I/R adderall and even the pure d-amphetamine I/R generics !! My generics of pure dextro amphetamine I/R only are a grade B imho.
Just my 2 cents worth, I do not trust anymore the FDA / Orange Book ratings / or, even the DEA.
Reference #1 imo is this. www.fiercepharma.com
Re: Nick (# 1024)
Teva has been horrible for the past 3 years. No therapeutic benefits whatsoever. Just horrible side effects. I've take 20mg IR for over 14 years. I thought TEVA was the worst until I also received my 3 month script of this worthless BARR crap. I'm fighting dozing off after taking every dose. Now I'm stuck with 2 months of this crap and no treatment whatsoever for my ADHD symptoms. And for the record I was diagnosed when I was 11 , not a tolerance issue considering I've been taking the same dose of the same medication for 14 years. Every month the consistency of all medications from Teva hit or miss, vary in quality, but are always of low-quality and total crap. The FDA could care less.
Re: joe (# 1036)
Hi Joe. I have filed 6 complaints in the past 3 years. I know I can't be the only one following complaints since this is such a widespread issue. Still have yet to see the FDA take any action whatsoever. I think the only action they're taking is putting money in their pocket from Teva. Where I live in Colorado Teba has made themselves be the only brand that's available in the 7 pharmacies in my area. I would seriously choose Aurobindo or any other manufacturer at this point. I have noticed the an effectiveness of other medications that have come from Teva as well. Curious if anyone else has encountered this also.
Re: TM (# 1041)
REF: post #1035....Here is the book on USA & foreign Pharmaceutical Fraud & Corruption!
"Bottle Lies" subtitled "Ranbaxy & the Dark Side of the Indian Market" author Katherine Eban. (published in 2019) . Note: Even Ranbaxy made a generic Adderall from 2008 to 2010, when they got in trouble, with USA authorities, I had one prescription of this Ranbaxy mfg "mixed amphetamine salts" for the former Brand Name Adderall, by Richwood (1994 to 2001) ShireUS until post 2002, to IDK for sure but around 2008/2009. (Instant Release generic Adderall 5 mg/7.5 mg/10mg/12.5mg/20mg./30mg.)
This was the hard-cover name of the book my (highly credentialed) new old school USA Psychiatrist, with our new intake 50 minute interview, my 70+ "Shrink" fully agreed with both the book and his & my attitude....saying generic ADHD / Narcolesy meds has significantly gone down hill, for the past imo since at least late 2011 to here & now !! The book "Bottle of Lies" is on the few books in his office, for patients I guess to observe.
Generic medication cannot be equivalent to the namebrand. If that were true both could not exist. There is a 20% difference and also the molecular differences are obvious to anyone when please side-by-side.
Re: RJ (# 1137)
I have done so numerous times and nothing gets accomplished. I even reached out to Mark Cuban several months ago to try and get his help because he understands how generics are made cheap. I've taken Lannett's brand, TEVA and Aurobindo and they are suck!! They play with people's minds and well being. Would love to file a Class Action Lawsuit against these greedy pharmas!!
Re: Addy (# 1149)
Thank you so much for sharing your story! We need to unite and fix this huge problem.
I have been waiting for the narcolepsy community to join the conversation on this. I said, when we start hearing from narcolepsy patients, we'll know there really is something wrong with the medicine. Here we are, it's official.
Valisure is not authorized to dispense C2 drugs, but they ARE able to do testing on the tablets. We need to band together and get some of these tablets tested so we have a leg to stand on. If the FDA won't do it, we will have to stand up and do it ourselves. That's where we're at.
To Addy, are you able to contact your doctor from when your meds worked, so they can talk to your new doctor? Maybe that will convince them. We need the doctors on our side.
It's a scam that works ... We complain, and the doctors all think we're addicted to the stimulants and want more.... when the kids complain, the doctors think they're just acting up. Kind of brilliant, just super evil. If we want it to change, we need to send pills to a place like Valisure's lab.
So true. Since 2018 teva is getting weaker and weaker I’m legitimately sick from it. It used to be insanity strong 30mg IR like crazy euphoria / Superman strong. Generics can have up to a 20% difference is efficacy they can be as low as 80% effective or over like 120% effective, thanks to the FDA!
The teva Adderall at in 2016 was definitely over the 100% that’s why so many generics are weaker because of so many ppl were getting hooked. So to prevent a crisis like the opioid one, the generic companies are sticking to life safe side by making less potent adderall. My guess is so they don’t get sued like the rest of the pharmaceutical companies for OxyContin. I know 99% that If I had the Teva adderall tested from 2016 it would be at least 110%-120% No doubt. Sandoz is only safe and I mean it I thought Teva might have got better so I got a script from them February 22- 2022 and I am so sick and it actually got worse. Screw this for real. Focalin IR from KVK 2x a day is the 2nd best in my opinion no joke! I’m having my doc start me on it now because I can’t get new adderall for another couple weeks, say you want to try it. Good luck…
I’ve had the same issues with the Brand version of Adderall from Teva. This is BS! I paid almost $300 for a month supply because the generics were so bad. Turns out, the Brand version is s****y too. Anxious, unfocused, depressed, nauseous and tired.
