Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 39) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Sir/Madam...I'm sorry, are we not allowed to request or search for information for ourselves on here? Maybe I didn't make myself clear....I listed my daughters symptoms from the Adderall, which I also take, and my son. I'm sure I can give you tons of feedback on several ADHD medications. But at this particular moment, I was hoping to get information myself from this specific post. Which I did!!! Thank you very much to the individual who provided that. I apologize if my story did not fit your needs or wants. Is that not the purpose of this site? Q & A's? Did I post in the wrong spot??? Network malfunction? I'm new to this. Thanks!!
Hi Ash, I went through the same problem, the only thing that came close to Sandoz is taking half my dose of Core. The full dose made me have stomach pains and made me feel awful, but i was stuck with it for 30 days so I played with my dose. I'm prescribed 10mg twice a day. What helped was cutting my pill in half and taking just a half when I felt it stopped working, usually after 4hrs. I have also tried Teva generic, and brand. Sandoz was the best, I even called them when I noticed their pills weren't working the same. They told me their formulation had not changed, but would look into it.
Hi Vicki,
Make sure you tell your pharmacist and see what alternative generics are available. If the medication isn't working period, then you need to tell your doctor asap. Hope this information helps you and others who don't know what to do.
My insurance (Blue Cross, Blue Shield) recently switched me from brand name Adderall to generic. I get my prescriptions filled at Walgreens, so they fill it with this Teva generic. So this morning before taking the first generic dose I read this thread and immediately know I've made a mistake by doing so. Already, before I take it, I'm thinking it's not going to work.
So, I take my daily dose of Tums and 30 minutes later take the Teva XR25 dose with a protein drink.
Not even 30 minutes later, I can feel it kicking in. Don't know how long it will last yet, but so far it's as strong or stronger than the brand name version.
U27 is the generic Adderall made by Aurobindo. Not 100% sure, but I believe U27 would be the 10mg. Personally, I've had much success with U30/20mg and U31/30mg from Aurobindo
Hi Ash, where do you live? I was at a new mom and pop pharmacy (here in Central FL) that my dr. recommended, and they carry Sandoz. I personally don't notice differences between generics anymore, but I did a few years ago. Maybe try smaller pharmacies in your area? Sorry your son is going through the effects of inconsistent generics. Hope that helps!
Purely my opinion but Sandoz has worked well after Actavis refill failed. Supposedly Sandoz brand generic of Adderall has a lot less filler.
Just took a 8 day Holiday on my usual Corepharma.....not much fun but great move. Re-setted my tolerance. Took a 30 mg a few hours ago. Great mood and euphoria...little side effects. Bring it on!
Glad you concurred with the holiday experiment...yes, rejuvenate the body and mind by total cleansing of the Addy....when you start up again your ready to tackle our complex lives! Oh, and a nice 1mg Sandoz alprazolam at the end of the day..??
I just picked up the pink Core 20mg. For me i feel ok, no jitters and i'm completely alert to everyhting. There is mixed feelings about the Teva why so many different opinions? The pink Core work fine for me.
Pink core? Is this the same as teva? Where did you fill? IR?
agreed the malinkroft white pills are complete crap
I have d-amphetamine salt combo 20 mg tablets AND just approved for NAME BRAND ADDERALL 20 mg TABLETS. One is oval b973 one side, 20 other side. ADDERALL 20 mg round dp one side, 20 reverse side - both are scored and both are orange and both are manufactured by Teva. Checked with Shire they no longer manufacture Adderall IR ONLY SR (capsules). So why then is Teva making 2 different generics. They both are ineffective and descriptions of each are the same.
I need to get another authorization to go back to the Adderall XR 25 mg but it must be made by Shire or it's just another generic! This is totally absurd and when you do investigate by yourself, unfortunately you're looked at as a drug addict!
Prasco bought the rights to Teva's XR
To the best of my knowledge Teva still makes IR
It is listed as a product on their webpage
Did you get the Shire XR, Prasco XR, Sandoz XR or Teva's new XR (made by acquired Actavis)?
I called them on the 1st or August and they did comfirm that they (corepharma) are no longer producing IR. I am desperately trying to find alternatives, but I havent found any other type that works for me. Holding onto hope!
Impax's subsidiary Global Pharmaceuticals is a rather new generic for Adderall IR and XR.
Apparently global handles all of Impax pharmaceuticals' generics division.
I have never tried them, but, I don't know what to do! All the alternatives have received very poor reviews.
Back to my original point which was my research into -Teva- and the purpose of my post:
For eight years I have always taken Teva IR generic because out of all manufactures I have tried, it seemed to be the most potent and efficacious (for me).
CorePharma was horrible between the years of 2009 and 2012, then seemed to suddenly improve, but now, of course, it is discontinued, but apparently is still in circulation in limited outlets.
Teva also changed their formula in 2013.
-Important-
When I state they changed their formula, I mean that they applied, with the FDA, for a new ANDA to produce and promote a drug (d- amphetamine salts). The only reason for this would be a -change- to something.
I called Teva and conducted some basic research concerning as to when the last time Teva submitted an application to the FDA, or changed their formula (i.e. a new ANDA).
My research, both by calling Teva personally, and, researching this on the FDA site, indicated they changed it in 2007 and 2013 respectively.
No recent changes can be found, or at least I did not find them.
Interestingly, according to the FDA, -Barr pharmaceuticals- submitted an ANDA to the FDA for mixed amphetamine salts IR in 2013.
This... I cannot explain. Perhaps someone else can. As they were acquired by Teva.
I could not find any recent Teva formula changes, so I can't explain reports with respect to a drop in efficacy/potency.
The only advice that I can give is this: Whatever you do, do not except the manufacturer Mallincrokdt.
Out of every possible generic you can name, this really is horrific, and I mean horrific.
Even though I may regret this advice, I think I would stick with Teva.
- Rationale of my thinking:
_____________________________
Even though the reviews recently have been deleterious for Teva, they aren't -as bad- as many of the other new manufactures of this drug. These reviews are rampant and (invariably) profoundly negative.
I hope this helps in any way.
Re: James (# 387)
Is Teva who makes IR, I tried it a couple of months ago and posted here. Good thing I only got a script for a trial (7 days) because instead of helping me they actually made things 3 times worse.
Re: James (# 387)
Teva is the least effective generic I've tried by far. Sandoz has gotten weaker in the last year. I was having good experiences with Corepharma until they decided to stop manufacturing Adderall. For my most recent refill I was only able to find Aurobindo in my area. After reading all the horror stories about Aurobindo I was prepared for an entire month of poor productivity and diminished mental clarity. However I was pleasantly surprised! Aurobindo's adderall seems just as effective as Corepharma to me. It can feel a little harsh at times, but after an hour in to the dose all the mild side effects fade and I'm left with all the benefits of this medication.
I guess everyone's body reacts differently to the fillers in these pills. I got lucky this time, and I'll report back if Aurobindo loses efficacy or if side effects become more prevalent.
Re: Angela (# 392)
Vyvanse, like adderall, is a stimulant used to treat ADHD. It's effects are slower to come up, but last longer as it "works" through the digestive system. It's less jittery than adderall, and overall smoother in my opinion. Do your own research to hear other peoples experiences. It was very effective for me.
Regarding the brands of it, I believe there is only the name brand "Vyvanse"
