Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 30) (Top voted first)

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

I have been complaining about the same issue to my doc for awhile now, and he said that I am not alone, and he hears that from a lot of patients. Some months the TEVA (peach, 30mg) work "right on" and some months they are "duds" and immediately make me sleepy and lethargic and spacey and give me a car sick feeling (if that makes sense). Seriously, the duds make me want to go right back to bed. It is a batch deal, because the effects can change drastically with a new batch, not because of anything I am doing or not doing.

I kept some from each month to compare, and the colors are very slightly different and so is the taste.

I used to get generics at Walmart who listed BARR as the manufacturer. They were a darker color and too potent - brought on some aggressiveness. Then I started getting them at Walgreens - a little lighter in color and listed as TEVA manufacturer. But those vary from month to month. I am always a little frantic when I realize I have a dud month. (I thought BARR and TEVA were the same, but maybe not?)

If they are "right on", I typically have a few left at the end of the month, because I don't need them as much to get through my day AND night classes - typically I'm good if I do the regular day schedule - and one a day of the "right on" works fine on weekends. If they are duds, however, I'll run out way ahead of schedule because I need an extra to get through the longer hours, and I'm falling asleep on weekends if I take one a day. It shouldn't be that way.

I also notice that I am not as able to write during the dud months, even though I love to write and do so quite a bit for work. It just feels too confusing and hard. During the right on months, I'm fine and everything flows.

It took me a long time to figure out it was the medicine and not me. Man, I miss the real Adderall. No generic has ever worked as well or as consistently (and I've taken some different ones in last 10 years)

I could have written this same post. This is spot on with my month now. Teva is the manufacturer, but mine are 20mg. Last month I was spot on with dosing. This month I was shy by 5 days. I break them in half and in quarters. Extra tea or protein smoothies dont help. The heavy weight that I feel lingers. Dragging myself out of bed is not easy. In fact, if i didnt have a reason to get up I could easily stay in bed and sleep. Gaining huge amounts of weight has been another side effect. Yes, over 15 years gaining 30 pounds trying and fighting to lose it has been so frustrating. My sister takes the name brand and has a hard time keeping her weight on. She takes the dr not tablet.

Exactly the same scenerio for me. Been this way for a long time now with Teva 20mg IR. Just curious who else might have noticed May-June were like sugar pills. July refill seemed OK but still lacked the focus that ADHD/ADD meds are prescribed for. Then Aug. is like not taking anything at all, completely useless and zero therapeutic value?
I fill my scripts in SW Colorado at walgreens by the way.

Sandoz XR and Prasco XR are exactly the same as the brand Shire XR. They both have Authorized Generic deals with Shire. Meaning EXACT same but the writing on the capsule....oh, and cost. The Shire will cost you minimum $100 co-Pay. Get your Doc to write Sandoz XR or Prasco XR " no substitutes" and you have brand XR.

Teva is awful and makes me jumpy, feel weird.. Aurobindo, although more subtle is less harsh and gives focus. Isn't that what you want?

I find it strange that Aurobindo is dragged through the gutter but that sweet testing orange football Teva is preferred.

With that said we all react differently....just my 2 cents.

I live in North Tampa I do get the Teva brand Peach oval horrible has the girl stated depressed anxiety is horrible I need this medicine to work where in God's name can I find something in my area does anyone know so mad about this s*** it's horrible this is been going on for about 4 or 5 months now I cannot take Sandoz I had to flush them they just are worse nervous irritable jumpy it's not right

The article below is from 2015 and gives additional insight to the FDA's continous & increasing failure to oversee generic medications. The FDA doesn't work to protect the American consumer. It works to protect the foreign manufacturers of generic drugs being
produced overseas and shipped to the US. It's all about $$$. FDA collects...not protects.

You are not educated. Your own personal experience does not educate you on the manufacturing process of generic drugs, recalls, variance of quality and ingredients, etc. What you are spewing is personal experience and opinions. Not facts. Your shared observations and accusations are as ridiculous as your claims of being educated on a topic you clearly are not.

This forum is for people discussing problems with generic adderall manufactured by Teva. You are unable to comprehend and maintain the topic of this forum much less contribute useful information to the subject being discussed. Please go find somewhere that your "imput" would be appreciated. I'm not alone when I say it certainly isn't here.

I am glad to see someone else experience this. Most Dr and pharmacists say they are the same. I have cried, had withdrawal symptoms. No one believes.. Hope these posts will help get F & D. attention.

Mallinckrodt I believe is the company you're talking about .I just picked up this prescription for the first time.The delivery is so different. Talk about a day to day of unexpected. This is what our whole pharmaceutical world has come down to. Disgusting. It tells me that adhd add narcolepsy or whatever off label it may be written for isnt taken seriously at all. Seriously by the pharmaceutical world.

Can someone see my message and respond, for some reason I am worried, I have been on sandoz aderall ir 10mg 2x a day for the better part of 7 months. Over time it has not even been better than a placebo pill, I am worried I can't focus but at the same time I hyperfocus, I am extremely talkative now.

I feel as though all my adhd symptoms are coming back and meds aren't helping, has anyone any advice?

Yes, I agree that the main ingredient - Dextroamphetamine-Amphetamine salts are altered, however, the inactive ingredients also affect the effectiveness of the medication and they are extremely different with each manufacturer. Bottom line is because we cannot afford the name brand Adderall (XR in my case), we have to try to find the best generic and request it each time.

Has anyone filled Sandoz recently and found it effective? I've been using Teva for the last few years and just got Sandoz for the first time this week. I find it doesn't work as well as the Teva I'm used to.

I have learned to talk to the pharmacist. Cashiers and pharmacy techs always gave me the cheapest of all my scripts. Would say they dont have what you want and cant order it. The pharmacist says we can order anything you want, just make sure your insurance pays. Be persistent and flat foot honest. Keeping a journal is good. I wrote a personal letter to my pharmacist, it's dangerous when meds change. Generic is not all the same. active ingredients and fillers, cant be the same. You may be allergic to the fillers. all the pills in a capsule is not all medication. It contains non active products (fillers). Do your homework. Know what you are taking.

Nobody can argue that different fillers and % of active ingredients won't give a different delivery. This is a fact. Then consider ones diet. Food can play a role in this as well. As it can with any med. No two people are the same.

Your restless leg issue screams that this Adderall has no amphetamine in it. We ADHD people are low in dopamine in certain parts of the brain, as are non-Adhd restless legs sufferers. The restless legs are a horrible feeling and also indicative of low dopamine. Therefore, the generic Adderall you have is counterfeit--it not only doesn't boost your dopamine to help ADHD symptoms, but actually seems to have some crap in it that LOWERS dopamine, therefore causing that awful RLS.

Do you take the whole 30mg at once or take half twice a day? I just started back on adderall after being off for 6 months due to the same problems you mentioned. Got my refill a week ago of adderall IR 30 mg (Teva) first few days felt amazing like finally they got the pills back to normal, but now the past couple days I’ve taken my meds it feels like it did when it was crap. Super sleepy and irritable and cloudy feeling.
