Actifed Cold And Allergy Availability

I always found Actifed to be the only cold medicine that worked for me. Now I cant find it at any of my local drug stores even behind the counter. Is it still available? Even the pharmacist I talked to thought it was on the shelf and then realized they quit carrying it.
Go to Wal-Greens, over the counter, and ask for Wal-Act. MY HUSBAND TAKES ALL THE TIME.
Actifed Cold and Allergy is now named Aprodine. It is available over the counter but you need to ask for it and sign for it.
Re: Marysdottir (# 118)
So far, not a problem in California. Show them drivers license.
If looking for Wal-Act, remember some states don't allow the purchase of pseudoephedrine unless you have a prescription. In those states, if you go to Walgreens and ask for Wal-Act, the pharmacist may tell you it's discontinued/not available. Oregon is one of those states. I had to ask three pharmacists before one explained about the state rule on pseudoephedrine. I have bought it at Walgreens in Washington, Nevada, and Hawaii.
Re: Bob (# 109)
It's available in Texas at Drug Emporium.

Re: Ana (# 115)
I just got a packet a week
ago at Walgreens. No indication it was being discontinued unless they were just using up their stock. I probably get a packet (48) every other month for indoor and outdoor allergies and sinus. The ephedrine in it can make you jumpier/irritable especially if there's been several cups of coffee that day. They scan my drivers license.
Just left a Walgreens, where I was told it's been discontinued!
You can find actifed at Wal-greens, it is called Wal-act, need to ask for it at the pharmacy.
I agree. It was the only product that gave me any relief.
Go to a local pharmacy and have them order Aprodine. It is original formula actifed. I pay $2.75 for 24 tablets.
Just came from Walgreens and they no longer carry Wal-act. Sorry to see that as it was the only OTC med that worked on my allergies.
Walgreens carries WalAct (red box - 48 tablets - behind the pharmacist's counter), which is an exact generic substitute for Actifed. It is displayed behind the register (not to be confused with what is NOW sold as Actifed - which doesn't work for me - for which you bring a card from the over-the-counter section of the store to the register); you must ask the pharmacist for WalAct (in some cases, point it out), show ID, and sign for it. I think I paid $7.99 plus tax when I bought some a few days ago. They limit the amount you can buy (because the ingredients can be used to make illegal street drugs if obtained in large quantities); I believe it's one box every two weeks or so. If you don't want to make several trips, bring your significant other along who has a driver's license and just go once a month. As a warning, though, sometimes they run out at the height of allergy season.
Old formula actifed is no longer made, but there are 2 alternatives. Wal-Act at Walgreens. Or have your pharmacist order aprodine made by Major Pharmaceuticals. It is the same formula as the original Actifed1
Can I take Wal-Act from Walgreens with my prescription drugs: Neurontin , Lisinopril,
Metoprolol, Glimeperide ?
See 2nd reply down about Wal-Act. And a number of previous posts about this product from Walgreens. It is Walgreens' version of the brand, Actifed. Try it & see.
Hello...we just took a trip to Italy last summer and the Alitalia lost our main suitcase for 3 days in the Naples airport. We were forced to buy basics in Sorrento and I ended up having to take Actifed because there was no such thing as "little red Sudafed" like I took one of every night before bed. Yes, one of the ingredients in Actifed is the main ingredient in Sudafed (the original) and the drug dealers use it to make methamphetamine. It's a huge problem here in Indiana. I took 2 of the package of 12 and the remaining 10 have been lying here on the dresser in the box for a year, I'm ashamed to say! They are plentiful in Italy, the packaging is all in Italian and it looks to be a Johnson & Johnson company and manufactured in France.
I was curious as to how many boxes of Wal-Act 48ct. with 60mg pseudoephedrine are you allowed to purchase in one month?
Aprodine which contains the exact same ingredients as Actifed is still readily available.
Thanks for this 'heads up' on Wal-Act. The product is kept behind the counter & you need to provide an ID & to sign for it. But it doesn't require a prescription & it works well. 48 pills for c $7.
You can go to the States to a Walgreen and get the behind the counter WalAct which is the same and works just as well. We try to go to the States twice a year to get four boxes of it.
