An antibiotic is a type of antimicrobial substance active against bacteria. It is the most important type of antibacterial agent for fighting bacterial infections, and antibiotic medications are widely used in the treatment and prevention of such infections. They may either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. A limited number of antibiotics also possess antiprotozoal activity. Antibiotics are not effective against viruses such as the ones which cause the common cold or influenza. Drugs wh...

why does cefdinir make my urine smell
Does cefdinir make your urine smell and does it cause you to need to go more often? ## The exact reason why medications do certain things to the body are unknown, however, they all do have side effects, because you are ingesting a foreign substance. Cefdinir is an antibiotic, a generic for Omnicef. The most common side effects include: nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain and headache. That said, it should not make you urinate more frequently, but medications do affect people differently. Have you talked to your doctor about this? ## Yes. My urine smells awful, just like the smell/aftertaste of the capsule when I take my dose of Cefdinir. ## Mine too, just reeks. ## My urine smells terrible since I've been taking Omnicef. ## My pee smells like asparagus, but I didn't eat any asparag...

I am allergic to penicillin, can take amox clav 875 mg?
I have an infected tooth and was given this medication, but I'm allergic to penicillin. Can I take this medication without an allergic reaction? ## Hello, Kwilli! How are you? This antibiotic is a generic for Augmentin, which contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, so it does not contain Penicillin. While it should be safe for you to take, there is still a slight risk that you could be allergic to it, as well. This is used to eradicate bacterial infections and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## I'm allergic to penicillin can I take augmentin clav 875-125 will I be okkristen ## This was helpful thank you

Antibiotics that start with R
Used to treat MRSA ## To treat MRSA, Vancomycin or other antibiotics in the same class are used. Other options may include: Flucloxacillin, Erythromycin and Ciprofloxacin. I am not, however, finding any that start with an R. but it is possible that some doctors may use Rocephin, the active ingredient in Ceftriaxone, though it is not listed as being used to treat MRSA. Do you have any other information, such as antibiotic class or anything on the particular one or ones you are seeking information on? ## After taking a round of Cipro and Flagel, I have an imbalance of flora that is causing me diahrrea and stomach pain. I had this before some years ago and was prescribed something that Started with a V. can you suggest something, ## I was in the hospital and was given a IV therapy for 20 d...

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Been taking 1 antibiotic pill instead of 2 a day
I've been taking antibiotics for a UTI for the past week and a half, my doctor said take this antibiotic for a week and you'll be done. It's been a week and a half, and I just realised that the bottle had said take two a day, but I've only been taking one a day. I know this was stupid of me to not read the bottle, but I just want to know if this will compromise my recovery or something. Should I just keep taking them this way until they're gone or should I start taking two a day? ## What antibiotic was prescribed? I'm sorry, but I can't answer your question, without knowing this additional information. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The FDA lists most common antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-aller...

How Long Does Levofloxacin Stay In Your System
I will be taking Levofloxcin 500mg for 10 days. How long will it remain in my system after finishing the medicine? ## Several days, but not very long, since that is not a long time to be taking it. According to the FDA, “Levofloxacin is excreted largely as unchanged drug in the urine. The mean terminal plasma elimination half-life of levofloxacin ranges from approximately 6 to 8 hours following single or multiple doses of levofloxacin given orally or intravenously." Ciprofloxacin HCL 500 Mg Tablet Splitting
Can this pill be cut in half in order to make it easier to swallow? ## That really depends on whether or not this pill is a solid tablet or a capsule filled with liquid or powder. Generally, you can't really cut a capsule in half; but rather empty its contents into a glass of water and down it quickly. I wouldn't attempt this however if your medication is an extended release formula; (but based on your description I don't think it is). As such, if it is a tablet, I would just recommend cutting it in half as you planned on doing and taking it that way, as long as you take the two halves one after the other. I hope this helps! ## My husband can not swallow medication and it is crushed and soaked in water and then put through his stomach tube. Some medications will not separate...
